Druids definitely have to be dealt with, but I also worry about this mention of a "mud sorceror". Perhaps we should let our friends' contacts in the Enclave take down a copy of the correspondence we found at the farm? Also I noticed I don't have a faction... is there much of a way for a character to try and join up with one mid-campaign? I was thinking Harpers personally. The druids are more to be checked out than dealt with, as they purport to have a way to restore the elemental balances. This is the first mention you have had of a mud sorcerer and you are the leading edge of any investigations. No problem joining with the Harpers.

(inter-planar teleported message) To: Brother Bartholamew the Green; fellow Wanderer; Invisible School of Thaumaturgy; Minaria Bro, Bart, greetings from a marooned exile. This place (they call it "Fay-roon") , is populated by an odd assortment of beings. The group I have chosen to observe is a motley group. They, as a group seem a roguish bunch. Mostly humanoid. One of the pack is of a race they call a Kenku. Rather like a large parrot or skirling. Another, called a "scourge AAsimar" is quite eldritch and ethereal. The most curious thing I have noticed is that unlike the gentle Aelven Folk of Neuth Forest the "elves" here (they come in varied hues) are extremely warlike and dangerous!! I must end this as they return from the barrow with their loot to the hut. @ THE EATERS OF WISDOM @ Giz. p.s. I feel terrible of having to take part in the slaughter of some local aborigines just to blend in.

Whispers in the Wood... From the Journal of Shanairra...
They never seem to learn... My companions seem unwilling or incapable of understanding the simplest of tactics... Some think me aloof. Others, unfriendly - or even antagonistic... While some seem to view tactics and wisdom as cowardly... I have seen far too many of them charge blindly into the fray only to fall unnecessarily to foes that could have been defeated far more easily - or avoided altogether. Is it my weird to watch over these "children" only to see one after another fall due to their own stupidity? I have tried to show them the way; tried to guide them through these trials... It becomes harder and harder to allow myself to get close to any of them... Miss Noma was unlucky, as was the other ranger who began our journey - Avalon Bill... I tried to save him but was thwarted in my attempt. Those who slew him paid with their lives, but that does not bring him back... Too many have fallen... I watch as new companions come forward. Some braver than others... ...some wiser... ...some less so... The Desarin Valley is a place of such unrest, I find myself questioning every action I move to take - it has caused me to pause just a moment longer than once I might have....made me less alert - less willing to seize the initiative than I have ever been before... It is a place that has me questioning myself far too often... I have slain potential allies and allowed enemies to gain the first strike against us... I have trouble relying on my instincts in ways that I never have in my brief 108 years... I wonder - perhaps even fear - that in the end, this could be my undoing...

Whispers in the Wood... From the Journal of Shanairra...
An innocent nearly died at my hands.... There was a lesson to be taught, and in my foolishness, I was almost the one who learned it... The bear was acting as a bear does... He was not the true threat... Nor the villain - and should not have been my target... My companions nearly died due to fireballs cast by the druids... Casters are always the threat... We were lucky this time... I was lucky that my own hubris and disenchantment did not see the bear strike me down... Every time I work with others as a team, I learn why I prefer to be a loner... I do not doubt their skills or abilities. I doubt their wisdom... ...and my own... I am certain my wandering has not made me the best of companions... I am quick to anger - and the Desarin valley has me negotiating with a volley of arrows unleashed at the first sign of any "threat." Innocents have died due to that action.; yet every time I hold, we are assailed... I will be pleased when we have righted the imbalance to the natural world here, rid it of the cultists and the elemental nodes, and departed from this forsaken place once and for all...

Whispers in the Wood... From the Journal of Shanairra...
Perhaps they can learn. Amidst the shadow of the tower, we worked together and seemed to understand tactics more as a group than before we had. We seem to have created a stir among those gathered - primarily because the great fire effigy has been dealt with - and fireballs have a lit the skies upon the ridges and camps we have visited. Those that came out from the keep - with the fire dwarf azer leading the way - were dealt with rapidly, but again, we seem to have alerted those below to the fact that something amiss might be going on here - and to think - it only took the casting of a half-dozen fireballs to make them wonder... Perhaps everyone in this forsaken place has dulled wits... The bard - Veylan - tried to parlay with the furry cultists, but when they turned into werewolves, their fate was sealed. I dropped one as they closed upon me. The second got to me but soon regretted his aggression. I fear we are using too many resources too often to deal with these cultists, but deal with them we have. When we rested within the hut, it was clear, upon the arrival of the denizens of the tower, that we needed to end their scouting before reinforcements could arrive. I dropped three of them, injuring the fourth badly along the way. My companions used the hut to great effect, and we dispersed them handily. As we climbed into the keep, the floor gave way and we plummeted to the ground amidst the rubble... Then, from amidst the rubble, we encountered the magmen...

From the dairy of Cough, the good doctor
Sometimes I question the insanity that has come into my life. I rejoined with my patreons to be meet with utter horror. Friends horribly injuries and fiends all around, i bless my swift speed and quick hands as i have treated there wounds while they run through their foes, careful to not be tread on. i had nearly missed the kindly wizard in my rush, the injuries were so great. There was a dwarf among us today, i rather like that i don't have to crane y neck upward. There was also a flaming one that had me worried, i think I'm mottling from the stress, i hope not. I feared for Velen after his encounter with the were beasts, not so much Shanairra who executes both man and beast without hesitation. I fear that one day i may lose my friends to plague or infection but thank the lords that non has been in the air.
I WAS ON FIRE! IT HURT! I never realized until now that my beautiful feathers would burn, thank the lords they were only lightly singed but my skin is still tender but i will not take fire magic lightly again. I shall remember the sounds of today, perhaps they will be useful.
The short rest was a blessing, my hands sore from their constant work. Once the scrap outside the hut ended i swiped the foes pipe and a shiny new dagger. Its mine now. The bard seemed shaken after his brush from death so i decided to play some cards as a show of good faith. To my surprise the bard had just as much wit as I and we had locked ourselves into a tie.
we stubble upon the sleeping quarters but no fire cults, i don't feel well about this.

Gizlan the extra blue: First these nasty cultists kill my friend Avalon Bill then have the cheek to blow my pet owl up not once but twice. I am starting to get ticked off and I can feel my aggression level approaching that of the local Elves! First revenge; then to mourn.

Whispers in the Wood... From the Journal of Shanairra...
The Desarin Valley is overrun with this elemental evil... The Magmen proved to be more of an annoyance than anything else - but we need to clear this tower of all their influence... As we scoured the outer buildings, we were assailed by Bugbears with their Warg companions... It was to their undoing... The Paladin, Narcellia, seems to be adjusting to her increased power and is dealing out horrific damage to those who threaten us. It is wondrous to see... Even if she is Drow...she is unlike all others I have had the misfortune of meeting... The Kenku and the Bard seem somewhat capable if often entirely enthralled by shiny objects... The Wizard, Gizlan the Blue is an evoker of some skill - and is entirely willing to cast everything aflame... In any other place, that would be even more effective... The Clerics - especially Bigsby - seem to take an inordinate amount of damage - but at least they can heal themselves... ...and others... Olins is capable of so much more... but his eldritch blasts are effective - if somewhat predictable... I wish we had one more solid frontline fighter - Even one of the mountain folk - to hold the line and allow the rogue and I to pick off our enemies from distance... The other Paladin and the Halfling rogue have gone missing... I hope to see them again soon... I was rightfully concerned with the Razerblasts - and they were rightly concerned about me... Luckily, none of us fell to them - though we were not careful enough approaching the debris... Risky actions will bring us down... This group seems to be gelling in a way the earlier ones did not... I believe this - or - more accurately, I am choosing to hope it is so... If not, I will be meeting new companions again... So long as in the end, the evil that has enveloped this valley is vanquished, it matters not... If it costs me my life, then so be it...
The natural balance must be restored... In the long run, that is all that matters ...

& Thoughts of Gizlan &
"For the first time since allying with this posse I feel a great foreboding.
We are faced with a powerful foe whom I feel is just beginning to toy with us.
My fellowship stumbles along using no stealth or viable tactics.
The recent fight shows how dangerous it can be to be treating the doorstep
of our enemies' with no more security measures than would be in a market
bazaar. Trying on new clothes without at least a perimeter set." (gulp)
-Will I ever see fair Minaria again?-
