The Evil surrounding us is being absorbed by my companions. I feel it trying to obtain my soul but I believe it thwarted by my being an alien to this realm. I am however growing weaker by the minute. Without the aid of Moonshadow and the constant conflicts within and without I feel I MUST rest soon. The cohesion and morale of this group is fading quickly. I estimate we can hold off no more than 2 more attacks before we are over run. Time to retreat.....

I do believe that we are in dire straights. Everyone is injuries and the majority still insist in carrying on despite the overwhelming odds and the senseless slaughter. Again and again they drag me into perilous dangers without care or thought of the parties moral. At this pace everyone will be doomed to die. I recommend that we find sanctuary to nurse our wounds and have a moment of repose. Possible even we should find the nearest town to buy more supplies but i doubt coming this deep in no one would like to turn back but if so we should be one with the shadows and cause as little disturbance as possible. If no one will stand up for this i will surely have to rise to stop this and bring sense to them. Ill ask Valen if he would like to join me in getting the group talk because not only are our supplies low but everyone has pushed beyond mortal powers both physically and mental. He seems like the only one that doesn't seem me as a annoying jabbering crow and is open to reason. I don't believe the violence and frustration is the work of a supernatural evil anymore but the result of a toxic environment and exposure of weeks of stress and fatigue. This unknown evil needs no help to poison our already dismal moral and trust in each other. It is inexcusable for teammates to attack each other(unless its involuntary), the monsters and nasty cultist do a good enough god. We must cure the disease our kinship has been plagued with. Good thing is that I am a Doctor and disease in both mind and body I have some expertise in combating. That is if i can survive this battle, all that matters momentarily is that we survive this raid. Then we can take steps and i can work to heal my patients.
Signed the Tired, Annoyed Good Doctor Cough

(inter-planar teleported message)
To: Brother Bartholamew The Green
Fellow wanderer; Invisible School of Thurmatology
Greetings old friend. Just a quick note from this far off plane. I survive still. I miss a certain
owl still. We set camp in this deadly place. I shared my hut with an interesting Dwarf. (The
dwarves here are very similar to the Clans of Alzak back in Minaria.) I must study that connection
between planes. This fellow may be our savior as he spent a good deal of time this evening in
prayer to his Deity for the procurement of water. Interesting. He is called Bigsy Marble in their
tongue. I also notice some of this party practice greed over our reason for this dangerous quest.
this may be our undoing. More later, Bigsy stirs.. >Giz

Gizlan's thoughts... That was one epic battle, although a little confusing. It reminded me of the battle with The Black Hand at The Temple of Kings. I am so glad we were able to rest before it. I hope the fighting will die down now enough so I may study the notes Brother Bartholamew sent me on Shardanzar's studies of controlling elementals to use them for good and not evil. Onward....

Whispers in the Wood... ...from the Journal of Shanairra.....
My last two entries seem to have been lost... I don't understand how, and overall, perhaps I care not...
It seems we may have moved into the water cultist's area... This place seems to have no end. We managed to take care of the Boulettes, but not without suffering some damage to the party. I was less effective than usual... My arrows were not as true as I am used to being... It was my ineffectiveness that was the primary reason the Boulettes were able to pounce upon the Paladins and Olens... The Gnothics less so...
The Halfling is becoming a problem. Her precocious nature will be the end of her... Of course, I already said she was a halfling rogue...
There are still a number of Ogres and Half-Ogres among the denizens still lurking in the darkness... The "Doctor" - Cough - seems detached from reality - perhaps it is a normalcy for Kenkus... In many ways, this is the strongest party we have had... The Paladins - Baylen, and Narcellia - are single-minded and infuriating at times, but they understand their roles and function well within them... Gizlan the Blue is a competent wizard. I do, however, still miss his protege', Avalon Bill... Olens is occasionally effective, but as a devotee of Kelemvor, his dogma is at times destructive to the party's goals. Evadora is a moderately skilled archer, but again, her extreme Halfling essence overcomes her moments of nagging effectiveness... (I begin to think this is causing me a bit of annoyance...as my sarcasm seems to be beginning to be loosed as quickly as my arrows...) Bigsy is a very useful and worthy companion...even if he is a Dwarf... He is far more cheerful than most and his lack of extreme negativity is an added bonus...
Oh, and the Bard, Vaylin, has gone missing... It seems I almost forgot about him... I should be so lucky... Bards are the reason no one feels badly when an adventuring party is wiped out... They are also the reason so many adventurers prefer death to continuing a journey with them...
It appears we are at an impasse, as these damnable doors are blocking our way and we are being attacked from behind them... Evadora actually came down from the ceiling and was hit by a crossbow bolt... Now we are trying to assail them, but we can't seem to break our way inward...
Someday, by the grace of Solonor Thelandira, I hope to finally be liberated from this forsaken valley...

Good God, i've been quiet for a while. That massive battle was frightening. Each day is a struggle just to survive but i try muddle by. Even though this job is hard i feel content to once again help the wounded. To bring strengths to others is a rewarding causes. Im not sure if Shanarra, Narcellia, and Balin are aware how dangerously close to death they was, it bewilders me sometimes to see how everyone brushes this experiences off. I think the party misunderstands me sometimes, they treat my kindness with a sense of wariness as if i would pilfer from their purses as they lay bleeding on the ground. I don't take glee in backstabbing that they can be sure of. When i had worked in the Basiliks guild after my expulsion from academia i had seen enough of that for one life time. Sometimes Shannarra reminds me of Big Blue except Shannara has more tact and better manners. Blue would just start planning on how to get revenge
I'm little disheartened that my disguises weren't as effective as i though they would be but no matter, i will continue to adjust them as we go by. . we rested within a old alchemists lab. I had tired to see if i could make any medicine from what was on the wizards work bench but Orlen advised against it. Far enough. I also found some shinny black crystals today but we seem to have lost track of Valen in this maze of a dungeon, i saved him a couple for him. He shares my love for shinny rocks to. I like Bigby, hes rather charming for a short hairy man whos chanting causes things to drop dead. Evadora lied about the sick man near the spring. That was not a sick man, i am very disappointed. Also i feel that now we are entering water occultist terriorty now, my feathers are starting to get wet as we approached the canal. Evadora seemed to be having some trouble for she was asking for help in the secret tongue before a cross bolt went through her shoulder. I ran to assist her, i should have tied her to me while i had the chance. I HAD TRIED to be pleasant but then he shot at me to. Im ok though, ill just leave it in my arm for now but that was rather rude. Now we cant get the blasted thing open now. Shannarra seems to be coming over.
Cough, bolt in the arm but still a Good Doctor.

Gizlan's thoughts.;
Still weary from that big battle. I have spent the aftermath in observation
of this motley group. My first impressions were the feelings of being an
outsider to them which I chalked up to being from another plane. But since I have noticed that for the most part none of these beings seem to be that close to each other. Interesting .The customs
and races here are quite different from Minaria. I have been able to
study Brother Bartholamew's missive on the notes from Shardanzar on
the subject of Elementals. I am beginning to understand the theory and
concepts. I wish for Moonshadow's speedy return...

He... Hello? Is this thing awn? Gah! I swear these gnome inventions always end up shocking me where it ain't no fun.
Anywho hello darr. It seems ahve been need'n to do one o these fancy noteraboggins for a while now. mAh bad. Not good with technology. Unless it's ah hammer and.. maybe a book.
So you wanna ear about the most recnt fun aye had down in a dungeon? Take up a pint and drink a seat... Oh waeet that's nawt rieet. Anyways.
So after we completely demolished a gruup of ogres and this mud golem, was a devilish genasi there... I think, he hit me but I was too busy with Ferdinand and Bob keeping tabs on the big guys to pay too close attention. I may have a wee bit hit the darned guy but no biggy.. So down the hall from that boondoggle we find a door and water rieet? Well the elves and that masked... Guy... They head to the one door, but I see that there water and think to meself "if that's watr, I wonder if there is another way around bahk!" So I just walked off, sneaking as sneakily sneak I can bee. I see one! Anohther door!
Looking back, them blokes still focusing on that one I go sneaky sneaky to this new one. I gottah say, I thought I was like a rogue! Hah! Scale maile rogue!
Welp I guess I wasn't daht sneaky cause one of those culty folk threw open that metal slit of thars and shot me! Close one too! Bahstahd!
As I was just tryhn to feegur out what's what Gizlan, a human with a big vibrant yellow robe... Must be a wizard thing... And Balen, another humie who thought it would be fun to summon a steed underground! I know! Guys a laugh.
They come 'round and we start scheming how wee gonna get into this box. Right? So I'm thinking I shove my Warhammer, I've got two, into the slit and Balen casts a spell of some sort in there... Boy it was gonna be fun!
Though instead he decided to just thrust daht door open with his elbow, oof almost the funny bone, but Gizlan spiked him! With a his fire spell! Oooooh you had to be there! Was greeat!
Everyone's fine no problem for a cleric of my stature. They'll be fine.
Then that masked floating..m did I mention he floas? Yeah... So he runs in there and casts something I know! Word of Radiance! Huh... Cool new plan. Time to... Wait did I just see the other door shake? Hah! Those guys can't even open a door.
So I run in, bring out me buddies, scared the poop out of a guy with a weird eye, he blipped out fast, scardy caht!
Once most of the cultist bahstahds are dead I decide to be nice and go let the other people in, let them have some fun. So I go open the door and wouldn't you know it, after all that racket there was no one there!!I could've sworn someone was out there.
These cultists, different from the last ones we fought. I think. Can't remember, maybe another drink will help clean my memory *takes drink* *let's out loud burp* gaaahh that's some good brew. Oops is this thing still recording? How do you *end scratch on papyrus*

Gizlan's thoughts: Huzzah! We are heading out of this forsaken place towards the surface. My feet feel lighter as I hope soon to be re united with my friend. The cultists try to stall our progress with their minions and other assorted beasties such as blue eyed cyclopses and sharks. That was a good fight but I must be more careful in this foreign atmosphere. I must ask the Kenku healer if she has any salve for the poor paladin's back. I miss the white elf paladin. (off on a holy quest perhaps?) I am glad the she-elf is on our side, quite lethal. I am interested with the dwarfs magic. I have never seen it's like. The group as a whole fought well with looting kept to a minimum. I prattle. Onward; Now if my man-servant Julute can figure out which gopher hole we will be popping out of.......

Whispers in the Wood... ...from the journal of Shanairra....
This elemental evil is growing.... It appears that no matter where we go, there is more to fight - more to destroy... What's more, is it seems there is some convergence among the elementals... Are some factions working together? Is there some greater allegiance among them? Are they conspiring to bring forth their ilk completely - destroying the natural world in their wake - only to then turn upon one another to decide the final dominant force upon Faerun? Are we the heroes to destroy such a force? I AM COMMITTED TO THE CAUSE, but I fear the majority of my companions have other concerns... Be it wealth, fame, or other ideals, they need to conform to my agenda, or at least not impede it, or they are of no use to me... ...or our world... Until this apocalypse is avoided there can be no other concern - no other directive... If this duty has fallen upon us, then I shall see it done... ...and I do not envy those who might choose to stand in my way... ...but, alas, they will not be in my way for long...
My comrades, if nothing else, seem to value my input and are willing to adhere to my counsel... This is a positive development, as it allows us to continue in the direction we must... The Paladins are brave to a fault - but their bravery at least helps inspire the others... The Bard is, as I have noted before, a bard, and so of some limited use in my eyes. Though, to be honest, I do have a growing affection for him... The Kenku and the Halfling are occasionally infuriating in their propensity for distraction - even in the face of imminent danger, but there is no denying their skills and ability to deal damage to our foes... Olens bolsters the party at times with his skills - but in combat is not our strongest ally... ..but I feel his heart is in the right place... Gizlan - as is the case with all wizards - may well be crazy...but there is no question his arcane magics have helped the party dispose of our enemies...
The longer the time I send in the Dessarin valley, the more I begin to believe that aside from my companions - everyone else IS the enemy... This is not a comforting realization...
It does make my choice of actions more clear...

Whispers in the Wood... From the Journal of Shanairra....
The Skaggs almost did us in... I had fought a troll or two once before..but these were exceedingly tough. I hit one so hard in the opening moments of the combat, that I was certain it would fall. It did not, and the three of them unleashed their wrath upon me before any of the melee' folk could close upon them. Unfortunately, despite some bandaging from the good "doctor" Cough, after my next volley, where I was able to land but one shot, I was dropped under their onslaught... I am told I have Bigby to thank for stabilizing me at that point... When I got up again, eventually, with the effort of our Paladins, Gizlan, Bigsy, and Evadora, I was able to drop the final two in one assault...but Trolls of any kind are resilient... They continued to rise, and until put to flame would do so... I, the paladins and Evadora kept dropping them waiting for Gizlan to hit them with his firebolt... He got one, but the evasiveness of an immobile and dying troll was too much excitement for him... and he missed over and over again... Finally, Cough was able to light the torch held by Bigsy maybe... I recall not.... I grabbed the torch and put the vile creature - not Cough nor Evadora, nor even Gizlan - but the fallen Skagg - to the flame... ...Thus ending its horrid and unnatural existence... I tossed away the torch in disgust... We failed to focus fire as much as we should have, and it nearly cost us - cost me, and the Paladins and others - our lives... Over our time together, we have grown stronger as a group, but we must operate as a unit... We must work as a team and isolate the enemies to be successful - especially as the challenges we face grow stronger...
Once the combat had ended, I called upon the healing spirits of the Solonor Thelandira, and we danced about it as Gizlan prepared hit sanctuary... There might be a use for that old fool after all... Though, if I hear about his desire to reacquire his oft killed Strigiform too many more times, he may join him on the other side... Moonshadow may attack in silence... Gizlan does nothing in silence... ..and don't get me started on the Bard or Cough...
We spent far too long waiting in one place... Tough we recovered our resources, I fear staying immobile and contained for such a long time cannot bode well in such surroundings... ...If any of my companions understood or observed the natural world, they would know that the hunter may well become the hunted... ...That staying visible and stationary for nearly a full day within the realm of the enemy allows even the most dimwitted - - aside from some I have traveled with - to formulate a plan of attack... I hope I am wrong, but I fear my companions may soon be under siege and in combat again...
As for me, I must be off... I have received word from the Emerald Enclave, and they call me away... I shall return as soon as is possible...
May the lessons we have learned together protect those I travel with during my absence...
