HOW IT WORKS
Veteran players should build teams for themselves and their Sidekick. We recommend that veteran players build easy to use teams for the new player; perhaps that means all commons or a theme team – veteran players should have good judgment about this. Veteran players will sit near their Sidekick to help them get the rules right, and from time to time will offer advice. Just like training wheels, as the Sidekick gains experience their mentor will give them extra space to play more independently.
Dice Masters Doubles: Veterans and Sidekicks can team up with one another to play the Dice Masters Doubles format (full rules here: dicemasters.com/dicemastersdoubles.pdf ). Play is very similar to the regular Dice Masters rules, except Veterans and Sidekicks will have opportunities to strategize together for a slightly different experience that is great for learning.
Once a month, on Sidekick Night, veteran Dice Masters players will bring someone who is new to the game and interested in learning, as their Sidekick. They’ll play side-by-side against another player and their Sidekick, with the veteran players providing some advice and instruction. Players will be rewarded just for showing up! At the end of 3 months, players and their Sidekicks who have attended at least 2 Sidekick Nights will be able to win limited edition Dice Masters prizes.
Stores will reward participation prize to each player the first time they show up to Sidekick Night in a Sidekick Season. On the 3rd Sidekick Night, players who have attended at least twice will be eligible for an entry into a random drawing for Dice Masters prizes.
It is encouraged that other veteran players attend with the mindset that this event is a more relaxed atmosphere. Bring that crazy team you know isn’t top tier but is fun to play.
