You are all residents (of at least the last couple of weeks) of a rustic, wilderness town called Bur Hollow. The sleepy rustic town of Bur Hollow is home to about 250 hardy folk. The residents are primarily farmers, but harvest berries, game, and lumber from the Briarwood for sustenance. Situated about a day’s march from larger villages to the east and west, it is a popular stopover location for travelers and caravans. A small inn, the Broken Axle, caters to travelers with hearty meals and humble accommodations. Simple weapons and common adventuring gear are available for purchase (or trade) at the local trading post
The Briarwood is a temperate hardwood forest composed of maple, oak, and hickory trees. It boasts an impressive undergrowth story, mostly of shrubs adorned with thorns, briars, and burs. Travel off established paths is slow and can be painful. Even a variety of oak, the oakthorn, sports six-inch-long spines on its trunk to dissuade herbivores from grazing on its tender leaves. Many of these shrubs bear a bounty of berries at various times throughout the growing season. These blueberries, blackberries, redberries, and briarberries are actively collected by residents of Bur Hollow to supplement their diet. Briarberry pie is a local favorite, and hard to resist by travelling Halflings. The Briarwaood is a smaller part of the larger Blackbriar Forest in the Empire of Crieste, oldest of the Western Nations and, arguably, the most powerful in the Northlands of Aereth. Crieste is ruled by His Divine Eminence, the Rampaging Lion, Immortal Emperor of Crieste, age 10.

My Name is Ilkan "Sail Holder" Oglokanu. My crazy friend and I wondered into a town where all of the innkeepers and feast halls wanted to be my friend until some fancy dressed guy made them all sad and they left. I met some strange new friends. One is a bird lady with horns, a short man with a long beard who prays a lot, a man that relies too much on shiny metal to protect himself but has great courage, a lady who doesn't like people and got jumped on by a frog, and a cowardly man who hides in combat. We took a walk in the woods and found some towns people who were guarding a sleeping tree lady. My new friends killed two of them when they told me not to kill them. The tree lady asked us to make the frog people go away and the water come back. So we walked up the river and squished some big bugs and a big frog pulled me in with its tongue. I have never been so happy in my life! Except while eating pie. We found a water lady sleeping on a rock who wanted the resident bear dead. I went looking for the other water people and found the bear instead. My lucky day! I slayed the beast and the water people gave me some little balls from the water. Then we walked some more. And found a big beaver dam with frog people on top. I guess that would make it a frog dam. I went to chop it to pieces but got caught by a snare. The man in metal tried to catch me as I fell. He didn't do a very good job at it. We slayed the frogs on top of the dam and my lady friend with a bow who doesn't like people had a frog jump on her face and she fainted. I impaled the frog to the ground with a mighty javelin. Then an ogre came charging out after my short bearded friend. I did the only thing I could think of. I jumped off of the dam and cleaved him in two and became very lightheaded and took a nice nap. Now town guard lady wants my help to kill more frog people. I like my new friends. The cowardly man needs to get some courage or he will never die a glorious death and the bird lady needs a bigger weapon. How can you cleave a man in two with a toothpick?

I've been in this backwater village for two days. Finally somwthing a little more exciting then watching villagers toil all day is happening. A paying job to end the threat of goblin attacks, and perhaps find their "captain of guard." The others who accepted this contract seem hardy and useful in a fight. If they can distract any potential threats away from me, this arrangement will prove most beneficial. I have yet had an opportunity to really show my skills as of yet, but i trust that when the moment presents itself. I will make my finer talents known. Until then, I'll happily let tbe hulking goliath play with any monsters we come across.

I should have known that things would take a turn for the strange, when several strangers arrived in town. Barely a week after that hapless Goblin raid, the town's few decent fighters went missing during a counter-attack on the Goblins. The town elders must have jumped for joy this morning, when several adventurers appeared in town. Myself and the Tiefling happened to be around when they arrived, and the whole lot of us signed on to investigate the situation in the forest. Twenty gold will certainly spur most to action, and this dwarf needs money for brewing potions and beer for the town. After meeting and assisting both a Hamadryad and a Nyad, we were able to make our way through the woods and discover the fate of the missing party. We found them being used for slave-labor by a group of frog-folk and their Ogre ally. We put the frog-folk and the Ogre to the sword, and freed the humans. The Human Captain wanted to waste no time in continuing on her mission, despite being damn near naked. And the town folk call me stubborn. As of now, we're resting and taking stock of the treasures we've found. I've already exhausted my daily gifts from Elyr, as the Goliath and the Wood Elf nearly got themselves killed. I'll bet the simple farmers back home will scarcely believe the bizarre creatures and activity happening just outside their sleepy town. Today was surely strange, and I'll wager that things around here will grow stranger.

Well it certainly took long enough but it looks like I may have finally found a way out of this cesspit of a village. After so many years of being blamed for everything from failed crops to the church collection going missing, I may be able to leave these close minded simpletons behind me. The goblin raid last week, seems to have spurred the village to recruit some passing adventurer's to track down the missing guards. The group they hired is an interesting bunch to be sure. I've never seen a goliath before, but he seems like he means well enough. If nothing else he follows direction very well. Although if I hear him say he killed something that I killed one more time I may have to show him what this "toothpick" can do. The dwarf from town has decided to join this merry band of misfits as well it seems. Despite his holier then thou preaching, I guess he isn't a bad sort. I'm not sure about that noble though, I've notice a few tricks of the trade in his mannerisms but something just doesn't add up. Why do the things our kind do if you've been born with a silver spoon in your mouth. It just doesn't make sense.
What in the name of all the gods! Why is he blue? He didn't start blue, so what in the blazes? I'm keeping my distance from that one, I don't know if that's contagious or what, but I get enough strange looks as it is, I sure as heck don't need to be turning blue.
Joy, we rescued the captain. Why couldn't she have fallen into the river or something. Stupid human wants to go running ahead to her demise while we have two of our own very nearly dead. Well if she wants to press on all by her onesies that's just fine with me. Run along you colossal pain in my... Or not, I guess she isn't a complete moron after all, well at least in this respect. That family sword does sound quite interesting, please tell me more about it.

That nap was great, but this tent smells of frog. Everyone here is always in a rush and want to go hunt more frogs. But this time they are in a tree instead of a dam. So tree frog hunting we go. While everyone is talking about how to siege the tree i got tired of waiting so I charged in hurling javelins slaying two tree frogs as the threw spears back. I reached a large wall of briars, but before I could go through them a tree frog poked his head out and shot me in the neck with a blow dart! The next thing I know, I am laying on the ground and I watch the bird lady walk right through the wall of briars and THEY PARTED FOR HER! I stood up and charged through the wall...the briars did not move for me. I climbed the tree and found some more frogs to slay. I must have flown into a great rage because I opened my eyes and all the frogs lay dead around me. We took another short nap while my friends played with some pretty rocks they said were magic. Then we descended into the ground beneath the tree and to my delight found some large lizards! One bit and latched onto a comrade's leg so I severed it's head from its body. My crazy blue friend wanted to check their insides so I cleaved them in two. It would be a shame to waste such good meat, I dragged one with us. We found a round room with another frog that liked to talk who had some other frogs that didn't smell very good. After my new friends finally got out of my way I entered the chamber to fight. The pitiful frog tried to harm me with her froggy magic but I much too mighty a warrior to succumb to such trickery. The bird lady stuck her a few times with her toothpick before I could get there so I settled for a stinky frog and cleaved it in two. I don't understand why the bird lady is always glaring at me after I declare my victory over my fallen enemies. The guard lady got her toothpick back and at some point my crazy friend has turned into a child. I didn't know that humans could go backwards in age. I guess I will just have to carry him so he doesn't get into trouble. What is strange is that he continues to attempt to bed full grown women. He should stick with girls his own age. On our walk back we saw the friendly water people and they even invited me back for a bath. When we got back to the elf lady in the tree she gave me some healing water and told us to go plant a tree on the other side of town to make her sister come back to life. We feasted and had a merry time and it made me glad to see my crazy friend playing ring-around-the-rosie with girls his own age. I decided to go for a bath with my friends the water people who got a little handsy. On my way back to town I retrieved the bodies of the two fallen guardsmen and returned them to their families telling of their great courage in defending the elf lady in the tree! They were sad but glad that they could have closure. We went shopping and my friends bought an old grimy shield and gave me a bag of money. I don't know why they bought this useless hunk of metal, but I guess they know what they are doing. They peeled it apart and found a book and read it. And now an unfriendly looking orc man with a big ax like mine came out of nowhere! My crazy friend told me to kill it, so kill it I shall!

Well it's a nice change I suppose, being a hero to the village rather then the pariah I usually am. Although at what cost is the question I must now face. The blue one is now a friggin kid, not sure what happened to him but between him turning blue and now being a knee biter, I really don't know what his deal is. On the other hand he's currently creeping out the captain of the guard, so I guess I'll just have to help him stir up a bit of mischief. His giant friend still doesn't seem to grasp the concept of one, he is not the only fighting. Two, stealth is our friend and we can't so it properly with the entire group stomping after us, and three, I can not carry him into combat. He's got to be at least 300lbs, is he kidding me?
Anyway, we've done our good deeds, we helped the Dryad get her sister back, heck the big guy even returned the bodies of the two guards the rest of these knuckleheads killed. That could have gone so much worse, but luckily the other guard doesn't seem to want to chat about certain events. Here's hoping he will take that secret to his grave.
Next step, leaving this stupid town and seeing the world... and maybe finding a few shiny things along the way.

First employee hired. Garthak is the first step in building my organization. For the gold I am sinking into this investment, I need to make some better plans than traveling for weeks. That dragon statue was a waste of time. The goliath is happy though.

Doctor Stumbleduck Wetnoodle Brown's log. Well the last few weeks have been interesting to say the least. I found myself in another small town, with good people. Trying to track down my invention, which to be honest I'm afraid may be a lost cause at this point. That little brat took it from me and chanced are ill never see it again. However one night I did find myself in a peculiar pickle. While in my room at the inn there was a loud commotion down the hall, shouting, screaming, and just an outright rukus. I should know by now to not meddle in commotions, but alas my curiosity got the better of me so away I meddled. After a rather awkward introduction to this group, they asked me to examine a book for them in exchange for pancakes. HELL YEAH! These hooligans cant read and i get pancakes is a deal ill take. As it would seem this book was magical, and one of the group actually hired a rather large orc to protect him. In fact now there are 2 very large brutes in the company. I best be careful to make sure they don't squish me. Turns out they are some sort of adventurers for hire. As i have been on my own for quite some time searching for my invention without much luck, why not try to tag along with these folks. Before we left i was given a treasure map for the city we were going to. It would appear that not many people in this world can read or decipher much of anything in this land. They're all hung up on coloring books. Well i was given this map, so I'm off on a treasure hunt it would seem. The question i faced is weather to share with my new mates. Probably... Maybe.. We'll see... Our trek to the city was long, and boring and i had to pee a lot (small bladder you know) We did however come across this dead man and his ghost dog. That dog was a jerk and he ghost bit me on the arm. All i was trying to do was look for the guys wallet to see if he had any I.D. Once the holy moly guy buried the other guy though the ghost dog left. So that was good. What else, we met some dwarf who wants us to clear out a mine for him. I'm going to tag along in case there's something that needs to be read. On our way the scary flying one almost got eaten by a boat. I don't think i would have missed her. She scares me. Now alas here we are at the mine. We'll see how it goes from here. I have also decided to perhaps write my adventures down in a book. I have heard of a Halfling i believe who did something similar. Bobo was his name i think.. just need to think of a clever name for my book. perhaps Everywhere I May Gnome. A Gnome Away From Home. .... work in progress.

I pummeled the orc that came out of the book until he went to sleep. Then my crazy blue friend read the book again and disappeared! Then the bird lady brought him back then he did it again! I won't let him read anymore. Reading is bad for your health. A small man came and learned what the magic disappearing book does but I still think reading is bad for you. The orc woke up and the cowardly man gave him his ax back. Its too bad he didn't take a swing at me. I was hoping for another round! I guess we are leaving this town for a bigger one and the orc is coming with us. He is a strong warrior and am glad to have someone else who isn't afraid to charge into battle beside me. Several days into the journey we spotted a GHOST dog! I hate ghosts. When you die you should stay dead and not come back haunting. Everyone insisted on going near it and they buried a dead guy there. THEN A SECOND GHOST DOG APPEARED!!! They just have to go running after it too. Both ghosts disappeared but I'm not convinced. They are just waiting for their chance to jump our bones. The rest of the trip was uneventful. We arrived at the new town which is much bigger. I got my ax covered in silver to help ward away the ghosts. My blue friend has gotten into a habit of finding trouble with the guards. This time he almost got put in the mines. He seems to be obsessed with finding a house of cats and I'm not quite sure why. He has also convinced me to fight some other men in a place called the pit? He said that they were bad people who had it coming. The bird lady found us and wants us to go find some treasure and I'm more than happy to protect my new friends. The bearded man grabbed a gem that shot fire out and the statue turned into a fire drake! It hurt my friends and lit some of them on fire! That made me angry. I hit the drake with my ax which wasn't such a good idea since I seem to have hit it where it keeps its fire. The fire came out of its belly wound and burned me again. Luckily for my friends I slayed the beast for them. I am now Ilkan Drakeslayer Oglikanu. Someday I will find and slay a true wyrm and become a dragonslayer! I walked out of the tunnel carrying the dead beast and all of the people began screaming and pointing. They didn't stop even after I told them that it was dead and I had saved them from its fury. No one seems to want to cook it for me. Maybe I could make a new cloak out of its hide! Another short bearded man has come to us with a problem clearing out a mine. My friends sent me for drinks so I don't know what is really going on, but I will protect my friends. The bird lady's sticky fingers got her into trouble as she was almost eaten by a BOAT! I didn't know human's boats could do that. But I sank the boat right before it pulled her away from the dock. We arrived at the mine where we fought some skeletons and I crushed 3 of them myself. Everyone seems intent to keep telling me that these are skeletons and not ghosts. They are solid and you can't see through them. I know they aren't ghosts. Now we rest before we dive deeper into this mine.

A new friend came wandering into our camp this morning playing a nice song with his stick with strings on it and decided to come into the mine with us. We found some dead skeletons and the bird lady asked for the hand so I took it and gave it to her. Not sure why she wanted hands but I gave her all 14 of them. We found a great worm! I hacked it to pieces and found some shiny rocks inside that the bird lady said were valuable. I can call LIGHTNING from the air around me. I have become a stormcaller! I've never actually seen anyone do it before. I guess being struck by lightning as a child has finally paid off! Then our bearded employer told us a wonderful story about how dwarves can get sick and eat gold and turn into worms! He would make a good story keeper one day! As we wandered the halls we found a wooden box that my cowardly friend asked me to open. It was locked so I hit it with my ax. Then he got mad telling me to stop and grabbed a hold of the ax mid swing. I would have taken him with me but the orc grabbed him. He said he wanted it open so I opened it. I don't understand why he got so mad. Then a little stone man appeared and noised at me so I hit it and it disappeared. We went into another hallway and found a skeleton who wanted to talk to us but got frustrated when we didn't enter the hallway so it went into the room behind it. My new friend got shot and fell asleep so I rushed in to pull him to safety when the ceiling fell down on us. I shielded my new friend with my body to protect him from the falling stones and carried him out to safety. I got mad and rushed in to stop these skeletons from hurting my friends anymore. I charged in and as I reached the door a metal gate slammed down behind me. They have trapped themselves in here with me! They stabbed at me with spears and tried to touch me. As I shrugged off their blows I struck two of them down before my mind went black with rage. I awoke in our camp outside the mine. I must have slayed all of them in my rage before falling asleep. I get so tired after a good fight. I am glad that my friends carried me out into the open to rest. I never liked tunnels. I must work with my cowardly friend to help him build his courage. One day he may be a great warrior if he can learn how to harness his courage.
