Giants have been raiding civilized lands in bands, with giants of different sorts in these marauding groups . Death and destruction have been laid by them·heaviily upon every place these monster have visited. This has caused great anger in high places, for life and property loss means failure of the vows of noble rulers to protect the life and goods of each and every subject-and possible lean times for the rulers as well as the ruled. Therefore, a party of the bravest and most powerful adventurers has been assembled and given the charge to punish the miscreant giants.
The first stage of the characters' mission is an infiltration and assault of the Steading of the Hill Giant Chief. From there, if they succeed, the adventurers can advance to test their mettle against the even more formidable giants of frost and fire, but that is of no concern right now-the steading awaits, and its perils are plentiful.
To send them off with every possible advantage, patrons outfit the characters with all standard items needed for both wilderness and dungeon exploration; and each member of the party has likewise been given the finest horse available. Guides are available to help, and the party has a splendid map showing the exact location of i:he great timber fortress of the chief of the hill giants. This chief, one Nosnra, is a grossly fat and thoroughly de picable creature, sly and vicious, loving ambush and back-stabbing. Furthermore, the party has been cautioned to expect a secret force, some motivational power behind this unusual banding of different races of giants. Finally, the party has been instructed to keep any and all loot they chance upon, this being their reward for the perils they are to face. They are to follow any clues that point toward the sinister hand suspected of guiding the uprising, but are to return at once if they determine exactly the reason or force behind the unholy alliance. Some relic of great evil might be at hand.

Ours is one of the oldest Firbolg clans. Going back to a time before the ancient grasslands, and forests were considered ancient. During that time we have fought to protect, and preserve the sacred balance of nature. Rarely do we get involved with the problems of other races, though we do trade with and occasionally befriend some who share our goals, and ideals. For as long as I can remember though it seemed our thoughts were other folks problems are other folks problems and we must look after our own. This has never sat well with me. The world is changing, the forests are getting smaller, and if we keep this mindset we will soon be at constant war with the rest of the world trying to protect the forest. There must be another way. To show the world that we mean them no harm, and that we must all live in harmony and take only what we need. Recently there have been disturbing rumors of giants wreaking chaos and havoc. MY father is Chief of our clan and has said that we will not get involved. So I am now an outcast as I have left my home to lend my aid, and assistance in stopping this threat. I fear if they are not stopped it will not be long before these giants threaten my home anyway.

...Beastly Musings... ...the Journal of Tharinderial...
The threat of the Giants is real... We were able to stealthfully enter their stronghold and destroy there three outer guards. In that, we worked well as a group and defeated the threat easily... Though they were not but Hill Giants...and sleeping at that...
Then, things got much worse... Upon entering the stronghold, we found the kitchen and the Wizard killed a number of slaves, children, and subservients... only to have the entire conclave of partying giants alerted to our presence... They are amassing in greater numbers than is normal... Is this one of their grand gatherings - where they try to restore order and dominance among their kind? I cannot say.... But.... I see no option available to us but for a hasty retreat... We are hopelessly outnumbered and cannot hope to hold off these forces for long.... I see no choice but to regroup as best we can... I would be stunned if we don't lose some of our companions in the effort... It is a bad start - of that there can be no doubt... I only hope my comrades, none of whom I know well, will see the logic in this action... If not, it may be that Gawadgoroth and I might need to find a way clear of this mess without them... ...if one is to be found...

It would seem that my fellow companions are not interested in finding a diplomatic solution to this giant problem. They climb around and kill giants in their sleep, and constantly steal from them. Taking more than they could possibly need. They seem to be like murderous folks to me. I better keep on my guard around them as much as the giants. One of them opened a door and threw in a huge ball of fire killing innocent slaves. I had to turn away at that point. I couldn't watch anymore. I hope they are still alive, and I fear for their safety if they think they can continue killing innocents.

Oh goodness what a mess this turned out to be. Surrounded and outnumbered my companions and I fought bravely. One by one hill giants began falling and it appeared that we might seize the day. There is some degree of intelligence leading these giants as they covered their movement to flank us. Caught in the middle of several giants with no real means of escape. We lost our cleric, and one of my companions was taken captive. The rest of us used a spell to get a breather and regroup. We must come up with a plan or we are not going to last much longer.

...Beastly Musings... ...the Journal of Tharinderial...
The Giants are everywhere. In all my time in the wild, never have I seen such a continued presence of these monstrosities. It is an unnatural and troubling sign. Gawadgoroth senses it as well... He can hear it upon the winds, and in the cries of the wild creatures...
These folk do not cluster, for their's is a greedy society... As I scout around to find out more, I see the unrest in the world around us... There is a fell aura permeating all around us...
My cohorts are at least a sturdy bunch, and while they may have their own motivations, they seem intent on aiding in the destruction of the Giants, and thusly, I call them friends... It seems we have overrun the Hill Giants lair... Perhaps, they at least, are dealt with...
As we now face the Frost Giants, it seems we will need to be vigilant if we are to win the day... Some may regard me as moody, but constant vigilance is what we require...
CONSTANT VIGILANCE!!!
My dear Gawadguroth is the finest of companions. In her I know I have a comrade that is unflinching in her support...
There will come a time when I will enlist the beasts of the forest to aid us... Until then, we shall forge on as best we can...
