Pelor:
My book will have to wait. My companions seem to keep getting captured. Our first priority for the
survivors must be to attempt a rescue. An even bigger problem is how to defeat 20 enemies (or more)
with 4 when 9 were so handily defeated. Stealth is called for but we lack it. I feel that if we somehow
take out the smuggler's captain, 1st mate and their wizard the crew might just surrender as they seemed
to be an unruly lot. I would dearly also like to get some personal revenge on a particular gentleman who had
the gall to impale me with his hook hand of all things. My shoulder aches horribly.

I can’t believe that this has happened—being held prisoner on a ship full of smugglers. Our plan was flawed and our execution was worse. I wanted to dive in the water and escape the battle, but my Paladin oath kept me there as I tried to help my friends. Now we’re being held in deplorable conditions below deck. Our only hope is that the other members of our party come back to try and rescue us.

Our condition locked up below deck is becoming more dire by the hour. We are given starvation rations with very little fresh water and are very weak. The crew comes down to berate us and rough us up just enough to hurt us but not do any permanent damage. They are keeping us alive, and I now believe they intend to sell us as slaves. My brain is foggy, but I vaquely remember the captain saying they have a lucrative new business or something to that effect. If I get out of this, I’m going to see that these abhorrent acts come to an end.
I’m concerned for my friends who are not doing well; we are trying our best to bolster each other during these trying times, and if we are able to make it out of here I feel that our bond will become stronger. We can only hope and pray that we make it out of here alive. I have faith that our friends will come back for us and soon.

I recline against the metal bars of the brig as i look at the sad faces around me. The half here is the half who had faith in me. I kept my word and they are still alive. I always keep my word. Bovers and Val is what i put my stock in. They stuck with me till the end and Bovers listened without hesitation. I killed another captain again. I looked him in the eyes as he died, the brovado fading with his life. We do what we must to survive. Last time it was to exchange one life for three, this time it was one life for five. I am still a traitorous dog. Pirating still in my blood. I wont to know what those papers are, i also want the loot and the ship. I was too worried trying to keep us alive to get a look. We need to know what they are planning. One doesn't sail out into the sea for nothing. Oceanius tells us some interesting things. I don't understand why their so sad. We are alive. Stuff is stuff. it can be stolen back. We are where we need to be. We are exactly in the perfect spot to strike. Im not waiting for the rest of the lot to come rescue us. We escape, get our arms, then cut off the hydras heads. the rest will fall in line. The crew is like a school of minnows, theyll follow ebb and flow of power.. I have my way of escaping bars. By the honor of Oildammara this will be a fun game.

Leave it to Luci, I leave him alone for a few days and he looses an entire party. What were they thinking following that one? I really need to find someone to babysit him when I have to work.
Oh well, time for what I do best. A little work in the shadows, a little slicing of flesh, a little... punishment. I wonder if I can keep the captain as a toy for when I'm bored?
*fades back into shadows until only the faint glow of red eyes remains*

We finally were able to find a secret door in the hold we were in and escaped into a small room. As we were searching it, I was able to locate Oceanus’s weapons: a spear and a dagger—unfortunately his crossbow was broken, but at least we had something to defend ourselves with. At the same time Fin opened the door and we saw nine crew members in the next room who unfortunately saw us as well. I immediately shut the door and we were successful in baraccading it for the time being. Val armed himself with a pewter mug and I picked up a chair as we readied ourselves for combat. Oceanus took up his spear and stood ready with us. Our only chance was to defend the door as a choke point and try to only let them come one at a time. They managed to break through the door and Bovars was able to disarm one of them giving us a scimitar. Each of us did what we could to defend ourselves and all fought valiantly. Fin was wounded, and I picked up the scimitar that she had taken from one of the attackers. Our strategy was working and with the sword I was able to strike down their leader and finally the last of the crew we were engaged with surrendered. We had survived this battle with found and improvised weapons, but there was no rest as we heard a commotion from the deck above. Val and I immediately headed up to find that the rest of our original party was engaged in the final stages of a battle with the rest of the crew—they had come back for us as I knew they would. At this point they had things in hand and the enemies gave up. The fight was over, and thankfully we all survived. We had control of the ship.
It was a blessing to be free from the dark, cramped space we were being held in and to feel the morning sun on my face and breathe the fresh, sea air. I don’t know what’s coming next, but I’m overjoyed to be free and thankful for my brave comrades who fought valiant battles both below and above decks. Well done all! I’m looking forward to hearing the stories of how our comrades formulated and carried out their rescue plans. It’s great to be back together again as we sail onward.

I shared my story with the people Ive come to trust as we pawed around in the darkness. I told them how when i was a small child i lived with my family on the plane of water. We Tritons are a race of great renown who banished evil creatures from our territories after all. The waters were never too dark and was always pleasant, there was also no surface. Air was a foreign concept to me when i first arrived in this plane. I was always warned not to wonder far from the city but i love an impossible challenge, i wanted to explore. One day i explored to far from home and I fell through a color pool and spat out into the material plane and its cold dark oceans. It didn't take long till i was found by unfriendly faces. I left out the painful details of those years. How i was placed for sale as a slave. I was a prized slave, an exotic race. Perfect for work at sea or as a talking piece. I was sold to Captain John Crow. A pirate. A cruel man with a dead eye who used me as both a scout and a song-tress for his own amusement.. He broke my spirit. Eventual i climbed the ranks. I became the ships Quartermaster in all but in name. I kept the ships affairs in order and spied on other ships for what was worth raiding or not. I regained some respect from the crew but despite everything i was still the captains "Canary". He did after all just see me as less than a person as a source of his amusement and bragging rights. All i did he would take for himself. I left out that demeaning piece of information of my humiliating years. I was no one. To my listeners i was simply the Quartermaster on a pirate ship. One day our shipment changed. We were to deliver slaves aboard this ship and i saw a family of sea elves. The crew separated the father from the mother and daughter. I knew their fates. Id seen the papers. I was summoned to the captains quarters once again and forced to sing when a mate knocked on the door. The daughter had tried to escape but was caught and brought before the captain. He then began to beat the child as i stood in the corner watching. It was just us three in one room. I snapped. the years of humiliation, seeing this child just like i was abused by this man. It was too much to bare. I took the letter opener and buried it into his throat. I remember the look of horror on his face as he gurled on his blood. "tratiorous snake.." he choked. "We do what we must to survive, isn't that right captain." i said to him as he slumped to the ground dead. After washing my hands i helped the the three escape. gave them all my gold and placed them on a jolly boat. Sucicde for a normal family but not to sea creatures. they simply dubbed me "Gold Heart" and departed into the night. I never learned who they were and they never learned of me. My crime was found quickly. I simply packed up a bag and cast myself to the mercy of the raging sea. On that day I became the infamous Arolfin. Fin for short. I still dream of returning to the plane of water again. I spent the rest of those years smuggling, in and out of jails till the Owens family became my benefactor. I hold no love for smugglers who deal with sentient merchandise. thats my tale We eventual found an escape but it so dark i cant see my bloody feet. Valatasa drinks something without me while i'm fumbling about. Oceanius finds his stuff and his gear but we need to find ours. Will someone shut that bloody bird up! Eventual i find a door and opening it, desperte for light. This turned out to be a mistake. There is light. Along with nine smugglers and the man of the hour Mr hook. He's not worth memorizing his name. I killed two captains before i can kill another of his ranks as well. Bovers and everyone get into position and we are doing well fighting them off, I order Oceanius to attack and hold the line as we knock weapons out of hands. Things are going well till one man gets a lucky strike on me and i back out. I come to seeing that we have once again beat the odds. Weak and struggling i put on the studded leather of mr hook and head to the deck when i see low and behold Lucifer with the rest of our gang bleeding and wallowing on the bloodied floor near death but recovering, the surviving crew of the sea ghost cower in the corner. My eyes scowl as i meet his. "So, you've come back. Thanks for leaving us without a boat." With the ship under our control my mind is abuzz with the possibilities. I could turn this thing into a fine vessel yet again.

"Problem, little fish?" I see the triton come up from below as I slit another throat and kick the still convulsing body overboard. "We didn't leave you without a boat." I gesture to the fine sailing vessel, "What would you call this?" Smirking, I slid my dagger under the last sailors throat "I told you to surrender, you really should have listened." His eyes widen as the blade pierces his sunburned skin. His warm blood spills out over my hand as his face goes ashen and his eyes dull. A flick of my foot and he crashes into the sea below, just as all his compatriots before him.
I turn to the party that remains. "It appears that we now have a ship. I suggest a name change, The Sea Ghost, it's a bit on the nose now. Wouldn't you agree?" I look back at the blood still painting the deck with each rolling wave. "The Inferno, Styx, Abaddon, Perdition's Throne..." I wipe my bloody daggers across my arm and drop them into their sheaths. "What do you think, Capt'n Luci?"

Sigh, I'm going to have to hire more bloody crew. "Ayi, true, true. I just see a waste in killing dogs that have already yielded but i see your motives behind it. Just don't kill too many otherwise we are dead at sea. You'll leave me alot of work getting this beauty cleaned up after this mess. May I cast more lots to the name such as The Legionnaire or Leviathan." I turn to look at Luci. Honestly i don't see him as captain. Valatassa I see as Captain. He has a power and presences but knows restraint. He has the power to put his words to action without always resorting to bloodshed. He processes the swagger to lead a group of men without losing focus. That is a man worthy of leadership. Luci could be great but he lacks foresight, choked by arrogance and kills when he doesn't get what he wants. He has the power of voice but resorts to bludgeoning with a sword too quick. He still left half the men on his crew to an unknown fate while placing the other half in a deadly situation in their escape. He has no faith in anyone but himself and Maz. We should put this to a vote. Pirates live and die by the lots. "As for you. I trust your desire for blood doesn't not supersedes the needs and safety of others under your charge. It is hard to trust someone who would rather stab first than talk later."

"Oh little fish, I don't trust you, most of you really. I don't expect you to like me, let alone trust me. I'm not a nice person." I crouch down over the pooling blood, pulling a dagger to draw grizzly swirls in the gore. "You will however always know where you stand with me. I am not a babysitter, well, at least not yours." I can feel the dirty look from Luci without even a glance in his direction. "I deal in pain and fear, I don't look to be loved, certainly not by the likes of them." I trace the swirling pattern on my palm, the crimson lines crisscrossing in the dead men's blood. "I gave them a chance to live, they chose the other path and I helped them on their way. Next time, I won't offer mercy twice."
Standing I bury the point of the dagger into the deck. "If you need me, you know how to get my attention." I climb up the rigging into the crows nest. I kick back, my feet up on the rail. "Don't forget to clean the dagger little fish. Someone had the nerve to get their blood all over it."

Pelors thoughts:
I gain consciousness at last. I am in a rowboat. 2 gentlemen with oars hover over me. The last thing I remember were my 3 companions going up the rope ladder when the enemy's mage and I exchanged shots with each other. He jolted me with a freezing bolt while I put an arrow in his ribs. As I staggered from this, a hail of arrows thunked all about me when one, fired from the yardarm struck my helm so hard it knocked me out. I hope we won.
As some know, and others may not, High Elves reincarnate. When we go into meditative rest we have the ability (or curse) of seeing our most recent past life. As I am relatively young (as Elves go) my visions grow more vivid. I am now sure of one thing, I know in my last life, I had a connection with Arcana somehow......
