I hate this mercenary deal that I’ve found myself in and wish we were fighting for something meaningful. Maybe things will shift, but there was no way I was going to give up my life for the Mariners’ Guild or whoever we were working for this time. We went down to defeat to a bunch of cultists who have spared us and seem pleasant enough, but there’s something strange going on here—a lot of conflicting information and one guy who came up to me and asked me to get him on our boat so he could escape. He offered me a treasure map, and I’ll take it but I don’t care if it’s real or not. I would have helped him anyway—I welcome a chance to do some good. For now we’re here on this island, and I feel we’ll have another confrontation with these cultists. Hopefully we’ll be able to take them out this time.
I’m looking forward to getting this done, so I can get back to Saltmarsh and get my new adamantine armor which will hopefully help to keep me alive, so we can do some more meaningful work.

Pelor's thoughts: Terrific. We have once again blundered into combat to be overwhelmed and captured. We have mastered this technique repeating it over and over. We are now commanded by our new masters a large band of evil necromancers. I can only hope they are nicer than the pirate smugglers who captured us before. These maneuvers will make an interesting chapter for my book. I need to get back to civilization to rectify my logistical mistake of running out of the materials to summon my friend and feathered ally from the Fey. I would be embarrassed to meet my ancestors right about now. So it goes...

I have to find some meaningful work, as this is getting old as is being defeated in battle. If this job actually had a higher purpose, I would never have surrendered, but I’m not going to lay down my life for the Mariner’s Guild. But now we’re here on this island with this strange group; I haven’t quite figured them out. We just need to play this right, so we can complete this quest and I can head off on my own—unless the quests that follow have meaning beyond just making money. We’ll see.

Pelor's thoughts:
Well that was exciting. The battle vs. the undead minions was touch and go for a bit and I was grateful that we were successful and didn't have to surrender. Moving on we encountered the most "trapped" place I have ever seen. I wish I were able to "detect and disarm" them. Oh well. Seeing that my friends were being trampled by that elven Gollum statue I tried to distract it or disable it by getting it's attention in the room it was obviously guarding. It didn't work but I thought it logical at the time. Now I must admit to being confused about our purpose here and recent events. I believe we came here for a scouting of the Abbey for the Merchants Guild. While doing that we were overwhelmed by an evil cult who stranded us here for (?) while they went off to report to their bosses by boat (ours? theirs?). So we enter the place looking for treasure, I guess. My goodness, I have lost track of our mission but am enjoying the sightseeing and tactical situations we face. Blessed be the Ancestors...

This dungeon is full of too many traps to make this worth it, but maybe we’ll find something after a search; we’ll see. Beyond the traps and other dangers we did battle with a huge jade statue. We were spread out and looking to move out of the way but it quickly became clear that we were not going to be successful, so we stood and fought. I was closest, so I decided to move in and attack. I was able to call on my divine strength and finished off the statue with two huge hits. Now we’re all grateful that we’ve survived and still need to make our way out of this dungeon. Hoping for the best as I just want to get out of here.

Oh Oli! The hell of a mess this whole group is. With Valatasa missing it falls on me to fix everyones scraps and bruises. We were often finding treasure and the s*** we run into gets worst and worst. This one part of the complex is the most trapped complex I've witnessed! Acid pits, spike spits, ballista traps and falling boulder! It doesn't f**ing end! Dysia is crazy. You think after the third trap door its time to stop but no. Doors away and they dodge the projectiles like a champ. The last room had this big a*** statue surrounded by gold and I ignore it. It's too easy, it's obviously a trap. Me and D come to the same conclusion, which is why they stick there hands in the gold. Wait, excuse me? As predicted the statue comes to life and she looks pissed. With my silvery voice and fast feet I help Dysas get out with a couple of large injuries on her but Quin falls behind and falls. It looks even worst when suddenly the statue starts draining blood from D's body and they fall. S***! Fall back! Me and D cant tank its hits! We need to head to the curtain room! Pallys help! This lead to me screaming for all the to get up and fight as my words heal as we try to fall back.It becomes obvious that we need to fight this thing and I'm willing to go down swinging if I must. Im f***ing amazed, I shouldn't be but I am, when Lucifer tries to flee and abandon us once again only for karma to slap him in the face with the door being sealed off. Now he has to stay and fight like a man. With his head back in the game he becomes a powerful assest against the statute as I strum the Bandore and scream my voice raw to heal the fallen as the stone b**** continues to suck them dry. Eventually she falls and the day is ours for now. Palor jogs back saying he was trying to draw its ire. I can understand that even though it didn't work. I feed Lucifer a healing potion and my heart sinks when i see how much healing potions are left. Not good.

Pelors' thoughts: I grow weary and a long rest will fix me up. Ghosts and beasties coming through the walls can be disquieting and now that my fellow travelers have found some treasure to sate them, maybe I can talk them into going outside again. Hopefully before the Evil cultists return and find that we went inside and stole their stuff. Actually it was probably not their stuff but plunder. If I new the rightful owners I would return to them at least my share as it is the Lawful thing to do. Ah to return to my writings. At least I am getting some melee practice...

I’ll be happy when we are out of this place as it’s littered with traps and other dangers. We are just surviving these battles, and I’d love to get back to Saltmarsh and take a rest, not to mention that I’m excited to pick up my new armor and gain some extra protection; I feel like I need it based on the way things have been going. I would prefer to be doing something that has value to the common people, rather than working to help special interests. I hope we have a more noble cause when we do make it back to Saltmarsh. Time will tell.

Being off that god-forsaken island with its skeletons popping out of the sand, strange cultists, traps galore, statues that come to life and all the other strange stuff that went along with it and now back to Saltmarsh is a wonderful thing. Getting out of my armor, cleaned up and resting in an actual bed is a great step towards feeling good again. I was able to pick up my new armor which will help protect me more, and it looks like I’m going to need it as the Saltmarsh council has asked us to scout the shark people and pick up any intelligence on possible war plans. During the meeting I see some of our Lizard folk friends, and I’m presented with a brooch of the Lizard Queeen; I smile at this gift because I got the biggest kick out of her over the top personality. It’s nice to know we did something good for someone else, as we did with the Lizard folk; this is the reason I came here. It was a special moment.
We only have a short time to rest as this scouting mission needs to be done right away; the council feels that war is imminent, and they need the intelligence, so we set out even though I would like to have rested up a bit more. We make our way to the island of the shark people and what a sight! The island looks to be partially underwater with a huge spire-like rock formation jutting out of the middle. We try to make our way in quietly, but meet ups witha guard unit. After a pitched battle, we defeat them and get ready to enter the stronghold. We need to remember that we are on a stealth mission here and our objective is not to engage the entire shark nation in battle. I hope we can accomplish this, and I’m happy to once again be doing work that matters and has the potential to help the common people.

Pelor's thoughts:
Great to be above ground and campaigning in what at least seems to be a worthy cause. I am concerned that we were supposed to be on a scouting mission to determine the number of fish folk in their base. After our fight with the dozen door guards (?) I think with luck we shall return to our base with the report that there used to be 946 fish folk but we stealthily had to kill them all...Our reputation as scouts will surely suffer, (if we survive that is)..

Pelor's thoughts:
Ah, good. The Saltmarsh Guild will be thrilled to know the whereabouts of the Fish people's dungeon! Along with their armory location things are going well. Now all we have to do is slay them all or as is our norm, surrender and join them. I, for one, plan to make them pay for their despicably harsh treatment of birds!!

We find ourselves in an all-too familiar place—captured. We walked right into a jail cell without thinking it through and now we’ll have to come up with some type of plan to get ourselves out of this predicament. We defied the odds on other occasions, so I’m hoping it’ll happen again. Hoping for the best.

After successfully fighting our way out of the jail cell, we continue on through the sawogean lair. After many twists and turns we come to an area that leads into the sea. I can only think that there are many of the enemy down there and it’ll be a tough go. Luckily we’ve found potions that allow us to breathe underwater, and even though mist of us will be at a disadvantage underwater, we need to finish our mission and jump in.

Pelor's thoughts:
(preliminary scout report to Saltmarsh guild): (sent in an empty potion bottle): My Lords our recon scout so far reveals; We have eliminated all Sauhagen in their castle approx. 50+-, with one prisoner and one routing coward. We have disrupted their ritual to their GOD and killed same in the process wiping out a large number of their future generations as well as their priesthood in their underwater castle. We have discovered that they hate birds! We regret to inform you that we have yet to discover their plans to cause anyone any trouble. More later......
