After the wizard toasted the lizards me and evadora discovered two chest filled with coins, very disappointed. Too heavy and Not as pretty as gems. Of course then theres the problem of splitting. My numbers are not very good. Neither are any Kenkus i know of, Kenku pappy certainly didn't count, neither did mother. In Kenku society we simply sit in a circle while elder picks a coin one at a time, making a pile for each bird. Any extra goes to flock funds or to the kindly accountant. (come to think of it, he was a bit..... creepy for a banker. He always came with a wide smile, one hand out while two burly men in black tower over his shoulders. Shifty bastard.) years later human pappy handled all money, years after that i just copied what he did. This type of management is way over my head. After 10 minutes of pondering we threw the cash to those strange fellows who follow us around but mysteriously vanish into thin air when trouble crops up. I wanted to go down the narrow passage way, less chance of danger but everyone wanted to go take the long way so i went. Im not one to grab the elf by the ears and lead the way.
--------- I REGRET EVERYTHINg GAGUBSGAKS.....
FREEE! FREE from the water! WHeres destroy water when you need it. These beasties are slippery and so are my friends.
NOOO! NARCElliA! NOO Shinnarra, BALIN!
Only me and and Valen are left, he's determined to kill this monster, he refuses to back away from it no matter the fact that all the party are now at the bottom of the waterfall which mean i must stay. It seems to have boosted his morals because with his persistence and my chilling touch we killed it. Ya! ----------------------
We found a boat but discovered another dangerous waterfall, we had no choice but to turn back to the bubbles while Narcellia drifts farther down stream. Im sorry Narcellia, try not to die and be safe. Everyone was quick to board the bubbles once Gizlans spells activated with me grabbing the fifth one. I would have liked to have taken the one after Valen but Balin insisted. I just hope i can find him quick.
I don't like this, so exposed up here with just a crossbow and some magic. Theres fog in the distance and i've just past a corpse faced down in the water. Im worried for Narcellia, Valen and Balin. Surely i would have seen them by now. i want to go looking for them. My stomachs in knots but i don't have a choice. Leaving the bubble would be suicide since i have no idea what out there. Im not confident in my ability to act alone without direction, it might end bad. its why we always flock in gangs or to evil masterminds, we gather to ones that have the talent to make use for our skills since we don't have the power or confidence to use them ourselves. My magic seem to have leaked into my cloak turning it into item of magic. i may to relay on it if the worst comes to worst

~~Gizlan's (possible last) thoughts~~ I remember as a child feeling badly hearing about how the goblins of Zorn used this sort of conveyor belt device to slaughter large numbers of musk-caribou for their meals. I now know how those poor timid beasts felt. The utter madness of this place. I know, let's all go off individually in 8 different directions in an hostile environment. Good idea. I can come up with only 3 possible ideas as to the outcome of this dilemma. 1). Try to get off of this damn bubble onto land then erect an igloo for safety and a rally point for any survivors. 2.) keep riding the bubble in an infinite # of circles and try and get some rest while a whole new party (hopefully smarter) comes together. 3.) Die a glorious death for the entertainment of the Council of Wizards who must be consumed by fits of laughter seeing my present predicament. At least my faithful Moonshadow is still by my side and will return home when this is over. This realm is truly madness personified. They have gigantic insects and wildlife, hazardous elements that harm you, religious cult zealots who are evil to the core, bubbles as vehicles and thousands of different kinds of sentinent beings. Now - how in the name of Immer do you drive a bubble...……

Whispers in the Wood... From the Journal of Shanairra....
I almost allowed my anger to guide me.... This must not happen again.... While I feel certain that the obsession toward grabbing shiny things by the Kenku and the bard - who somehow is a high-elf - is something that must be curtailed when danger is afoot, I must not allow myself to become distracted by their noise and lack of wisdom... I recognize there are others with far more arcane knowledge than I will ever possess - but that is not my area of expertise nor my concern...
I know of the wild things, and I know of the danger that letting one's guard down in the midst of battle represents...and yet I did so...almost leaving a prone and grounded Evadora to be the victim of the Druid's altered form... as a massive crocodilian...
I did regroup and finish off the beast... BUT My initial response to the heated metal on the necklace was to lash out at Vaiylin - and that was neither prudent nor effective giving the current situation that was at hand... ...for as much as this pains me to say - the bard has on occasions proved his usefulness - and in fact - may have saved the party when we faced the Dragon Turtle - certainly - at the very least - he saved my companions... I only wish he would use his inspirational abilities ore frequently and remember his role in the party, for I believe there is more to him then even he as of yet realizes.
Perhaps Evig`an and I might have escaped the assault and found our way back to civilization - but the delay and the need to recruit new companions would have possibly been detrimental to my mission - and in truth, I would have missed at least some of my current troupe... ...and perhaps more of them than I would openly admit...
Certainly, despite my considerable annoyance with them at times for their lack of flexibility, the Paladins, Narcellia, and Baylin, are fine and reliable comrades. They are brave, capable and trustworthy... If they are also occasionally unmoving, I did I believe mention they are Paladins, did I not...
We took down the Lizard-folk effectively, as well as their companions and conjured folk. Evig`an remains a true friend and ally. He will protect me against all assailants, even perhaps to his own undoing, and I shall do my best to do the same for him... Gizlan, while frequently a mystery in both his history and his actions, also remains a vital part of our offensive assaults as only wizard types can be, as his effectiveness in unleashing spells which harm multiple enemies demonstrates...
As to the brace of rogues, the Kenku is a mystery indeed...Cough is both a healer and an infrequent assassin, and I feel something more now than he was before... yet, having said that, his continued predilection toward distraction often makes him far less effective in combat that he could be... I wish I could find a means of directing these wayward children and get them to work as a well-oiled machine, but leadership is not truly my calling, and I have little desire in the way of wishing to herd felines...
Evadora has begun to learn and is becoming a vital part of our ability to deal with foes... She now just needs to demonstrate the caution she once had, and not put herself so completely in harm's way unnecessarily... She uses her slippers of spider climb to great effect, but must not allow them to guide her - she must demonstrate the tiniest amount of wisdom... Though it is not to be expected from the likes of a Halfling rogue...
The rest of our companions seem to come and go... But these seven are the closest and among the longest living of all those with whom I have traveled... If we defeat the evils of this valley and return it to its natural state, free of the elemental evil that consumes it, I might even call them more than allies, and even one day, perhaps, friends...

Whispers in the Wood... From the Journal of Shanairra.... Atop the waterfall, we almost met our demise... The Waterwierds came upon us and eventually drove most of us over the edge. While we had done considerable damage to them, Cough and Vaiylin were left to fight them off by themselves... Somehow, yet again, they proved their ability to survive in dire circumsatances, and eventually joined us at the bottom of the falls.... Ev'agan was once again a mighty ally. Fighting beside me and helping as best he could against all foes... At the fall's bottom, we found a boat, and a huge translucent bubble, that was hovering above the water's surface. Always stalwart and brave, as well as being adept at swimming, due to her cloak of the manta-ray, Narcellia went on ahead... When the rest of us saw another waterfall, we turned back and gave Gizlan time to cast his spell of water-breathing upon us as a ritual. It took forever... I did not like leaving Narcelia alone, for, despite her competency, she is neither elusive nor wise, and is prone to doing stupidly heroic actions in the name of her vows... My companions then took the bubbles, which seemed to replace themselves at far too long intervals to make me comfortable... Ev`agan also seemed to distrust these watery globes, and we instead took to the water and followed the bubbles along the bottom of the river/lake. As I came to a fork in the passage, I needed to make a decision... I had just seen a body floating above me, but it was of no one I had known, and my companions were still moving onward. While Ev'agan and I could easily outpace the bubbles, it was unclear which way Narcelia or the others may have gone... With that being the case, we decided to continue straight onward... I am hoping that my companions are all unharmed and we may regroup at the end of wherever these transports eventually stop... Ther is great evil in this place. Of that, I am certain... Time is not our ally, and these elemental fiends must have their plans thwarted, or all will be lost in the Dessarin Valley, and, perhaps, this evil may cascade even further over the realms... Whispers in the Wood... From the Journal of Shanairra.... That was a tough and unrelenting battle. A battle fought in the worst of circumstances - divided and in a terrain that is unnatural for us, and home for our opposition... We were very lucky to survive... I believe Solonor Thelandira was watching over me, guiding me to as always he does... The Waterweirds and their riders nearly did us in... both Ev'egan and I were dropped - though we did rise again and do some damage... Facing creatures in their own environs is never the easiest of tasks, but being separated into individuals rather than gathered as a group made the task even more daunting. Luckily, we regrouped ater a time, and even Bigsy showed up. He seems to disappear for a time and then reappear with his skin tanned... I think he may have the ability to teleport... Still no sign of Narcellia, though there were alternate routes that were heretofore left unexplored.... Then there was a Genasi among the combatants - and this one seemd to be on our side. Her name is Maelstrom, and she took down the Waterweirds by parting the water that contained them. It seems she has been spying on the water cultists. From Maelstrom, we have learned that a significant threat to the realm is imminent, and we are nearly upon the Prophet of the water cult. I pause rather than saying we have the villain cornered, as this is its lair, and I fear all that could mean.... But, at least, perhaps, we can finally dispatch one of the nodes... ...and... Perhaps Narcellia is in its clutches.... The Paladin, Baylin, again proved his worth, standing tall and thwarting attack after attack by the enemies, despite their advantage against him... The remainder of my companions at least showed a bit of sense by displaying some degree of wisdom that aided in their survival - and that is a good thing... ...again, perhaps they can - perhaps they ARE learning.... Either way, this is one of the evils that must be destroyed - and I certainly hope we are up to the task!!! I must say that occasionally, the tactics - or lack thereof - displayed by our rogues and bard often leave me with my arms akimbo and my head shaking in disbelief. The Kenku and the Halfling are - well a Kenku and a Halfling, and as such are but children in this world.... ...but the High elf should know better... I will use whatever leadership abilities I have before we go into battle to make sure my companions realize what is at stake and how we must approach this threat. This is one time where there can be no foolishness... no wasted actions... Or we will most certainly fall and the world perhaps may be doomed by our failure... This is the first real battle in my much greater war against this Elemental evil, but as we see as the season's change, ...one must be the first leaf to fall... ... and I pray to my beloved Solonor Thelandira - that we be the evergreens in this season of war... ~~Gizlans thoughts~~ I certainly was rattled by the loss of my companion owl again. I foolishly followed blindly the only other other human of our group the paladin Bailyn Withabee thinking the fish having been fed would be sated for a bit and being told that time was running out we must press on immediately. I now realize I should have sat back and watched with the majority. I am now in terrible shape.. Demons and monsters have fallen before me but little fishies were my undoing. "O that this too too solid flesh should melt- thaw and resolve itself into fish food...…"

These blasted tunnels are more dangerous than I imagined! Even our clandestine drow was unable to last against them... I think.
These genasi are vicious folk, a cleric, bubbles or something, joined our ranks against the cult. Suspicious but they aren't killing us... Yet.
Keeping an eye on the bard, shifty thing is still checking for loot during combat.
We will see what happens next if I may stay or go. Kelemvor is insisting I follow this group, keep them safe. I'll follow his wisdom, as above all things he is much wiser than I....
Let's get this water prophet!

~~Gizlan's thoughts~~ That was a good fight. We all came together in a more cooperative way than we have in the past. Even though I am out of spells and owls I feel pleased by not dying or being fish food this day. I only regret my tactical error in the fight by not disengaging from the elementals instead of sending support to our new aquatic ally (called a "Janassy" or some such; lots of races here). If I had withdrawn out of harm's way I could have maintained concentration longer on my support of the she-elf on her attacks. It turned out well in the end I guess after all although I now am inflicted with strange voices in my head; by the Minarian Gods please make them stop, I don't understand it. ? Did a "flightless" Kenku just fly by

a brutal fight later and i'm sitting on the river side while everyone is setting up the hut, watching the tides rush by and out of sight to the sound of thrashing falls. Where is Narcellia? Why isn't she here? Has this nasty place truly killed you? I may not have divination but my heart tells me its true... I miss you... Now all that is left is to finish what you started. Im sorry that we have to delay your search, time is short but i promise we will find you and avenger you. Its what you would have wanted. Malestorm is nice, i haven't gotten to know her yet but she has been getting hurt more then I'm comfortable with. She has no fear and no regards for her well being and i worry about her. A nasty barnacle man is tormenting Valens mind. No one torments my friends with visions. We bravely descended into the dark murky bed of the lake and found ourselves surrounded by gators, elementals and there in the distance is That man. the one with barnacles stuck to his face and a large crab arm. He has my attention and he will not escape my chilling grasp. my friends keep on getting dangerously close preventing me from releasing a ray of sickness at him. it is a nasty spell i do not want to inflict on my friends. This fight feels like its going on forever. I'm distressed watching malestorm and everyone getting hurt but too slow and wet to be of use in the water. Bolts too risky, large spells too risky. All i can do is throw cantrips from afar. Malestorm falls and Bigby goes after her and I'm full of dread. Suddenly the water prophet then rises above the water and Im reminded of the grave consequence of hesitating like that time with the wind elf so i pulled together a plan. Its against my nature to create ideas. All kenkus had creativity ripped from there souls a along time ago. We are not good at come up with ideas, or creating our own designs. Its is the vilenest of curses for a race that once did great things to be prisoners in their minds. I can live without wings, my growth stunted or even a real voice but i had fought hard against the curse of creativity by practicing my mind. Confronting it is like facing a large stone wall. You know you will never break down the wall but if you can poke tiny holes you can catch glimpse. That might be why i am still alive today. Ever since my magic awakened i find my mind liberated to plot crazy stunts like this one now. I refused to let this man escape and bring his friends, so i pulled out my rope and pushed my plan into motion. I called upon the magic of my cloak and was pushed from the water into the free air. Truely i was flying if only for a second ready to strangle the man with my noose. Then he stepped to the side... I tumbled back into the water but the man seemed startled, enough for everyone to gang up on him as Olins struck the killing blow. We did it! Good Doctor Cough

~~Gizlan's thoughts~~
Tis good to have my friend Moonshadow back even if only temporarily. I have been told to keep him hidden to keep him from harm. That would be like trying to stop the wind or tides. A celestial snowy battle owl craves action too much to be held back. I am anxious to climb this waterfall to aid my human friend and ally Baelen Anly. It seems that in this place of too much water the life expectancy of a paladin in a bubble is about the same as an owl. I think I see a way up this barrier that in my haste to help Baelen I overlooked. Hang on sir help is coming!

Whispers in the Wood... From the Journal of Shanairra...
...why did there have to be more bubbles... Bigsy seems to enjoy riding in them and being as useless as a bard...
We tried to rest after our battle with the water prophet, but this is no area where a rest can be taken... When w traveled further on, we came to a portal - a portal i is believed may take one to the elemental plane of water... This is an evil place. I feared we were to be slaughtered by a hydra who guarded a shipwreck, but when we retreated, it did not follow.... I took one of its heads.... For my trouble, it grew back two.... Had my companions worked with me, we might have felled the beast, but, I should have known better than to rely on them for any strategic assault.... We have a rogue who fashions themselves a doctor... ... a bard who believes himself to be a buccaneer... ... a wizard from another world - who seems only to wish to be back there... ..and perhaps to bring about the extinction of all Strigiformes... Another rogue who fancies herself a spide, and is nearly as big as one... A Dwarven Cleric who has taken to observing his companions in peril... and the Paladins - both of whom are now missing... Narcelia has been lost for too long now, while Baylin just became lost to us ... While I find them foolish and incapable of the barest of survival instincts, I do appreciate the loyalty of these Paladins, for Baylin stayed in the battle to give the bard a chance to retreat...
This, I fear, is in no way an even trade...
Ev'igan was nearly lost to me, for the water weirds we encountered while trying to rest nearly were the end of him... Luckily, he is saved. It is rare we find companions in a world so full of evil, who will stand beside us even at great personal peril... Perhaps that is why I tolerate these folk... Though, I admit, it might be more because my choices were limited and time is at a premium if we are to save this realm, then it is any great statement of affection towards these manwa'-hin....
Alas, we must work together, or all is lost... We shall fall and with us all hopes for this land...
Will I ever be free of this accursed valley?
