...Beastly Musings... ...the Journal of Tharinderial...
This lair of the Frost Giant King is immense indeed. I wonder if even he knows all of the twists and turns in his lair... My companions are a stalwart bunch, and we seem to complement each other rather well indeed... This is indeed a good thing, as fighting giants is never an easy task!!!
We explored more and more of the lair, deciding not to delve into the center depths, but to move to other branches of the caverns... Coming upon two large boulders that were partially hidden (to obscure their purpose?) we decided to move one and venture down into the darkness of the passageway... There, we encountered two young White Dragons. As we had scouted ahead, the other Ranger, Gawadguroth and I were the only ones in imminent danger. Realizing the folly in not approaching these beasts with a plan, and all of our numbers present, we decided to fall back and put the boulder back in place to retrap the Dragons in their "lair." I sent Gawadguroth out, and my counterparts were able to escape unscathed as well. I, however, was unable to retreat far enough and caught the full force of not one, but both of the cone of cold breath weapons of the vile creatures. It is lucky that I am of a much tougher stock than many of my kind, for I failed horribly in my attempt to avoid the assault. Luckily though, I was able to escape before the beasts were able to come upon me again, and we resealed the cavern. We will deal with these two later... That much, I can promise you!!!
Further on, we were beset by a number of Hill and Cloud Gants, which we disposed of. Then, there were a number of ogres and an Ogre Magi or Ooonai... Gawadguroth has proven to be the finest of warriors and my most trusted companion. He bravely strides into battle and aids my comrades and I. Quite often, he finds the killing blow and if not, fells our opponents, making it easier for our melee combatants to be effective.
Never have I seen giants cooperate as they have recently. They are devastating and must be planning some great evil and destruction if they are working together as they are... I only hope my companions and I are up to the task for, with the knowledge I have of these monstrosities, the whole realm may be in danger!!!

...Beastly Musings... ...the Journal of Tharinderial...
We were beset by Giants... Frost Giants - and a great many of them...
We killed a great number, along with their winter wolves, and the Frost Giant Queen... but in the fray, Barry and Pete fell... Asrael was taken... ...her fate is uncertain...
But worst of all, my beloved Gawadgoroth has fallen... Normally, at my side, he stays, but this time he forged on to aid in the battle... We became separated and he fell... ...The giants killed him as he lay unconscious after the battle... If it be my final action, he shall be avenged... I shall bring destruction down upon them... The Frost Giant King shall feel my wrath... He will die slowly and pleading for his death to come...
We shall regroup and we shall return..... Always have I despised Giants, but now... ...we shall wreak havoc upon them... we shall bring an end to their evil ways... we shall bring them to extinction's door... then throw it open and escort the last of them unto the abyss... When all is said and done, I will come to be known as "The Giant's Bane"...

Any ideas how to defeat these fire giants, hellhounds and whatever else is in there. I think we need a plan before going back in there. We definitely need to communicate and work together. Thoughts?

...Beastly Musings... ...the Journal of Tharinderial...
My new Companion GawadNuri' has been taken from me. I too was felled... I tried to attack the giants with my axes, and the lack of wisdom I showed cost me greatly... Somehow, I was wrenched from the undying lands and unto this mortal realm again... I found myself Naked and devoid of all my possessions...
Yet still, there be giants... I will be there undoing or fall in the effort... They are a stain which must be cleansed from the face of this realm...
My companions are brave, but I do not know if even they are up to this challenge...
I suppose we shall see....
Now, to find another companion, for more than being physically rid of possessions, I am truly naked without my animal companion....
We are a team, and I have been the weak link between us....

A view from above.... The reflections of an Elven Prince....
I see that there are giants who now threaten this realm... I had regarded them as nothing more than a nuisance... ...until, that is, they had the unmitigated gall to disturb me during a rare opportunity to dine in peace and without the encumbrance of meaningless conversation and companionship with those beneath me...... ...an altogether far too infrequent occurrence... ...alas, I am almost always relegated to dining alone to be in the company of my equals ... ...It is a burden I have learned to live with over the centuries... ...At least the perfection of my song carries me through the silence and fills the air with an essence and beauty few have ever been gifted the opportunity to experience... ...My time in the Underdark proved enlightening... ...Truly, the Drow are as bad as most folk seem to regard them... ...Devoid of character and quality... ...Mere savages, whose very existence furthers my contempt for the lesser races... I have heard of an influx of the Eladrin upon the realm... ...It appears they, at least, think highly of themselves... I have far too often been the one key to survival for the parties I have joined... and I grow weary of being their safety net and savior... Especially given my experience with their unmitigated lack of reason and the concept of planning - matched by their nigh-on legendary incompetence... I feel it unlikely that I shall ever find a group of companions equal to or worthy of my presence... This is the horrible burden I must bear... My unrelenting bane.... ...Because of these factors - and my disdain for the company of children - I have spent months as of late biding my time and searching out some worthy companions with whom to spend my most valuable time - and upon whom I would be enveloping in the beauty of my unrivaled radiance... After more than a fortnight of moons, my successes in this endeavor are mixed... ...I remain alone...
I have heard rumors that my younger brother, Prince Ellrodhan, may, in fact, have sought to liberate me from the Drow when heard of my plight... What a sweet and loving boy he is - even in his absurd misguidedness... Certainly, he should have known that no war band of Dark Elves would be able to hold me for long... True, ambushed as I was, I was initially overpowered by the ensuing throng, but they were not to hold an Elven Prince of my worth for long... They paid richly, if not in the totality I might have wished...
I am growing bored... Perhaps I shall see what I might learn of the disturbance caused by these uncouth Giant races... I will attempt, unsuccessfully I am sure - at least based on their level of intellect, to reason with these idiotic monstrosities, and see if my presence alone is enough, as it clearly should be, to have these brutes comprehend their folly and return to being largely invisible, lest I be forced to enter the fray and destroy them... I suppose such an endeavor will require my associating myself with adventurer types... Ugghhh... The things I do to be the hero this realm requires... ...Is any realm's survival worth the denigration to my being that such relationships engender? ..It seems unlikely... But, as it may protect my father's realm and my dear Ellrodhan, I suppose I must consider it... Why can't the flotsam and jetsam deal with their own foolishness and leave me to ponder the greater concepts of origin and existence? Must I always dust off my blade to shelter these toddling races?
We shall see. I may actually pay a bit of attention to this current circumstance and see if it warrants my attention in the least... I doubt it... If the wine were better than the swill these lands offer, I might at least find some solace within those cups... As it is, I study the movement of the clouds and the stars... I perfect my dance and my song... My beauty of form and expression of my art becomes even more unique and incomparably unrivaled ... ...unless, perhaps, it is equaled by the beauty bestowed upon those who are fortunate enough to spy me as I glide ethereally engaging in my dance of death....
I suppose, time is on my side, and, of course...
...I can wait...
