1. Download and print out the attached character sheet, or copy it to a blank piece of paper (or get a copy when you show up to play)
2. Roll 3d6 and record the results, in order, for each stat: STRength, INTelligence, WISdom, DEXterity, CONstitution, CHaRisma
3. Choose a class (see class thread)
4. Note down any special abilities you have at first level
5. If you are a Magic-user or an Elf, you may choose 1 1st-level spell (spell thread to follow)
6. Adjust ability scores, if desired. You can deduct 2 points from 1 score to raise your prime requisite score by 1 (see class thread for prime requisites); note that Dexterity can never be lowered, and Constitution and Charisma can neither be raised or lowered. No score can be lowered below 9 in this fashion.
7. Note down the bonuses and penalties for your ability scores (see ability score thread )
8. Roll your hit points (see class thread for hit dice) and adjust by your CON modifier (see ability score thread). If you are first level and you roll a 1 or a 2 you may re-roll.
9. Choose an alignment (alignment thread to follow)
10. Roll 3d6 x 10 for your starting gold
11. Buy starting equipment based on what you can afford and what your class can use (see class thread and equipment thread to follow)
12. Write down your Armor Class (see equipment thread and ability score thread)
13. Write down your saving throws (see class thread)
14. Write down your THAC0 score. This stands for To Hit Armor Class 0. Oh yeah, lower armor class is better in this edition. Pro tip - your THAC0 at level 1 is 19
15. Give your character a name. If you feel really good about him, give him a background - don't get too attached now...
