Since barely anyone was here last Sunday, I thought I'd try to sum up the important stuff that went down. Unfortunately, I took zero notes, so if anyone who was there last week wants to, they can fill in the blanks or correct the inaccuracies.
First off, the dracolich is dead, and its phylactery destroyed. All four of us survived, surprisingly enough. It had a small treasure trove, which we divvied up among us. It also contained 2 magic items (a weapon and an amulet), but I don't recall who claimed them. The phylactery had to be destroyed using a powerful source of heat, so we tossed it into a lava bubble in Oscipitus (which isn't looking very chaotic good at the moment, but that's probably not a problem).
We used the soul pillars to figure out the plan of Cagewrights. They want to create a permanent opening to Carceri through which to unleash a demon army onto the region. To do so, they're performing a ritual somewhere deep beneath the city. This ritual requires a bunch of people called "shackleborn" and some sort of soul tree(?). A few notable shackleborn are two of Morgunn's family, Messiah's brother, Coo'coo, and apparently Zenith, the dwarf we saved from the underdark. It turns out the old dwarf who hired us to save him wasn't actually his father, but someone working for the Cagewrights. Woops. Also, our beholder friend has apparently left the city for a bit. (We're not sure what he's up to, but it's probably not important).
Using the pillars, we also discovered the identity of another Cagewright; a member of the recently created city council. The soul pillar implied that she was our ticket to finding the ritual below the city. Following this lead, we headed back to the city. We met up with Celeste (who was apparently Nidrama in disguise this whole time) and a member of the chisel. Their intel led us to an abandoned building, which was apparently a safehouse for the Last Laugh. Here, the dark elf who we found at the Lucky Monkey (who was apparently helping the Chisel keep tabs on the Councilwoman) was being held captive. In fact, apparently the councilwoman has been hanging around all sorts of criminals recently (probably for purely innocent reasons).
My recollection of things get a bit fuzzy after this, but I believe Simon bravely and singlehandedly cleared the safehouse of all the thugs before passing out from exhaustion. Unfortunately, one magic user managed to escape (but I doubt that it'll come back to bite us in the butt). We left the session off right before we opened a secret door to a room that hopefully contains the dark elf.
But most importantly, we leveled up.
