Pre-Game
- Sign up for the league and submit your team roster (you have 1,000,000gp to spend; you need 11-16 permanent players, following your team's limits; 0-8 re-rolls; 0-6 assistant coaches; 0-12 cheerleaders; 0-1 apothecary if your team allows, 0-1 additional dedicated fan base; see pp. 30-35)
- Pay your league fee for a week in which you wish to play (not playing a week counts as a loss for that week)
- Be assigned your week's opponent; work out with them when you will play your match; if one or both of you has a rules book and pitch, you can play anywhere and submit your results (all details must be tracked), otherwise schedule your game time at Round Table Games (there is no additional table fee)
Game
- Note any special rules for the current tournament season
- Calculate Fan Factor (D3 + Dedicated Fans characteristic; see p. 37)
- Determine weather (2d6; see p. 37)
- Take on journeymen if previous casualties have reduced your team below the 11-player minimum; see p. 38)
- Spend petty cash/ Treasury gp on inducements (see p. 38)
- If one team is an underdog, decide whether to roll on the Prayers to Nuffle table (see pp. 38-39)
- Determine Kicking Team (see p. 38)
- Set Up (kicking team sets up first; max 2 players in each wide zone; min. 3 players at Line of Scrimmage in Center Zone; see p.40)
- Kick-Off (nominate kicking player not on Line of Scrimmage and in Center Zone; place the kick; the kick deviates; Kick-Off event (see pp.40-41)
- Team Turns (receiving team starts until all players have been activated or there is a turnover; alternate until there is a touchdown or the half or the game ends; see pp.whole book)
- End of Drive Sequence (when a touchdown is scored or at the end of the first half; deal with secret weapons; recover knocked-out players (4+ on a D6); drive ends; see pp. 66-67)
- Record outcome (game result; touchdowns scored; casualties that granted SPP's; league points earned; delete Dead players; see p. 69)
- Winnings ((((Fan attendance /2)+TD's your team scored) x 10,000); see p. 69)
- Update dedicated fans (roll a d6; if you won and roll => Dedicated fans, increase Dedicated Fans by 1; if you lost and roll < Dedicated Fans, reduce Dedicated Fans by 1; see p.69)
- Player advancements (record Star Player Points (completions, passing interference, casualties, touchdowns, MVP; spend Star Player Points; increase player values; see pp.70-72)
- Hiring, firing, and temporary retiring (buy new players; fire players and staff and reduce team value; purchase team re-rolls at double value; optionally permanently hire any journeymen that played this game; temporarily retire injured players for the season (this removes their cost from your Current Team Value; see p. 72
- Expensive mistakes (roll a D6 if you have 100,000+ gp in your treasury; see p. 73)
- Prepare for next fixture (calculate team value and current team value; see p. 73)
