I was recently reminded of a play style which I find completely disagreeable – that of the secret advantage-taker.
In some games this works, in others it does not.
Unless it is a mechanic specific to a game’s rules I do not allow this sort of gaming here.
It is antithetical to the way I run RPG’s and miniatures games.
Specifically, I never want to catch someone playing a “what the DM or another player doesn’t know is my business” style of game.
That is grounds for dismissal from our games. In fact there are people I no longer seek to game with because of this.
I need to be able to trust that everyone is helping use the rules equally to ensure we are all playing the same game, and not getting an advantage because winning is more important than anything.
If something is affecting your character negatively, or I have missed something that affects someone else, please help and call it out, and don’t let anyone make you feel bad for doing so. You are helping the game.
It’s a game. The honor is in the playing, not the winning.
And because the last thing you read is often what sticks I do want to point out that I have no indication that this is currently an issue. I just want to make sure it does not become one .
