After bringing the ship into port at Saltmarsh, we returned the smugglers goods to the town and were thanked for doing them a valuable service. I feel good that we were able to keep our word to the people and were rewarded with payment and lodging. I spent the next two days resting and praying before the town council asked us to come before them. They fear that the nearby lizard people are planning to attack and asked if we were interested in going to the lizard peoples’ village to gather some intelligence. We agreed and headed off by sea, then made our way by land where we found a door on the side of a mountain. Remembering we were there on a mission of peace, we knocked, but there was no answer so we entered and immediately were accosted by ten lizard people. Not wanting an altercation, we dropped our weapons, against my will, and allowed them to escort us to their queen who greeted us with a bit of suspicion, but I was able to speak with her and persuade her that we came in peace—I’m thinking it was partly because I told her that I was a noble knight. When I said that she remarked that there was no king at this time and said she liked the cut of my jib. I was taken aback by this, but with all of my training in court was able to keep my emotions to myself and responded with a smile. She told us that she would give us 24 hours to make friends with the advisors in her kingdom and we set off on our way. I was glad to see the party split in two as there are some definite divisions within the group. Along with Pelor and others, we set off and after a few unsuccessful attempts, we met and made friends with Savoc, the Queen’s minister. We found out that they are planning for war, but it doesn’t seem that it’s against Saltmarsh as their enemy seems to be a people called the Sehugan which I have no idea about. We also found out that the weapons we took after defeating the smugglers were intended for the lizard people, but we didn’t let on that we knew anything about that. We’re going to have to keep making friends with these people to find out what’s really going on. To tell the truth I really like these people, and I hope they are telling us the truth. Savoc recommended we speak to the queen and the Shaman, which we’ll definitely do, although the queen is not very forthcoming—she wants us to prove ourselves to her before she shares any information, and I can understand that. Savoc also told us about a giant crocodile who has been killing some of the Lizard people; we offered to hunt the creature as it will help put us in the good graces of the queen and her people; we shall see. I’ll fight alongside these people that I’ve fallen in with as long as we are doing what’s right, but I’m having difficulty trusting most of them and may need to go back out on my own once again—with Bims of course.
Which brings me to the best thing that’s happened in a long time: I have a new friend, a small pseudodragon named Bims who had been on board the ship and bonded with me. It makes me happy to have him on my shoulder—especially since I barely have a relationship with these people—except for Pelor who I have a strong bond with. We shall see what’s in store for us.

At the behest of the Lizard Folk queen, we set out to hunt the giant crocodile and decide to take the path along the river instead of trekking through the swamp. About three hours into our journey we were attacked by four ogres who we defeated after a difficult battle. After moving on we came across four chanting humans who we attempted to peacefully speak to—holding off any attacks until they attacked first, which they did. As a Paladin I never want to attack unless I’m sure that we are facing a true enemy and oftentimes this puts me at a disadvantage but I’m sworn to it and I will stay true to it. I’m happy the people in the party acted this way as well as there is too much death here without killing innocent people. I don’t know who these people were or why they attacked us as we tried to speak with them a number of languages—their only response was to cast offensive spells at us. I suspect they were some cultists moving through this territory.Why they attacked us I’ll never know. Sad. I didn’t perform particularly well in the battle, and I feel that in my heart I didn’t want to kill them. I’ll have to do better next time.After another difficult battle, we defeated them and were able to finally take a rest. We have taken some hits, but we’re ready to push on and finish our promised quest.

We are sent to investigate the hostile intent of the Lizard folk only to find they seem peaceful and lawful. To prove ourselves we are off on a big game hunt for a crocodile to remove this threat to these creatures. We are told to beware of the "Fish Folk" as they are said to be hostile (are they?) Much to our surprise we encounter instead, giant ogres who wanted to eat us and some magic slingers who wanted to kill us.! I vote we proceed with caution in this place. I tried to inspire my comrades by an impetuous charge which resulted only with an arrow to my back from a "fallen angel".. I repeat Caution is the watchword here...

We are back in Saltmarsh after doing our part to help make peace with the lizard folk and taking a well-deserved rest. I truly liked the Lizard Queen and her people, so I’m very happy that we were able to help settle any misunderstandings and help avoid war. There is a new threat the Sauhegan, but that will have to wait. Hopefully war can be averted there as well, but for now I’m going to enjoy some down time.
Sitting down at the Inn and reflecting on the adventure, we were able to overcome some challenging and very different obstacles. There was diplomacy in trying to win over the lizard folk and battles with trolls, snakes and the dreaded crocodile called Thousand Teeth. The party performed well and are showing signs of working together which is a positive step moving forward.
More later but for now I’m going to sit back and take a nap.

Pelor's days in Saltmarsh. After our mostly successful foray with the Lizard Folk we are held in greater esteem with the government officials in Saltmarsh. (Did anyone else have a dream of an ill-fated wizard in the marsh?) I am a bit nervous about our upcoming job as I prefer good old terra-firma to sea-sickness. Elves are not meant to be on the seas but in the forests, hills and places of higher learning. I guess I will stay close to the Paladin Ehlindil as he is protective and Finn the Triton as she is my best hope against drowning. After some shopping; Rations, healing potions, a new waterskin and a sharp cutting knife to place in my boot, some candles a tinderbox I am ready to travel. The rest of my time was spent in research in the towns academic facilities. While perusing a volume about inter-dimensional travel written by a mage from a different dimension, aa envelope fell out. I opened it and saw it contained an arcane ritual written in FAE and a note;
"May my dearest friend find better luck with you....."
a single feather floated out of the envelope

Blood & Swash: The Unvarnished Tale of a Life at Sea Chapter 18: Wanderings
After the grueling fight for the Sea Ghost, being imprisoned by smugglers, shut up in a smugglers hold with company of fishfolk and landmen alike, a time at simple prayer and service seemed called for among the good people of Saltmarsh. Though me shipmates did chagrin my departure, and their long faces were the last I saw as they sailed away, I knew I left them as a braver and better crew as when I found 'em.
Taking a break from laying low the unjust and lawless to tend to the meek and unsound is a calling I see fits quite neatly into scripture. For just as the Sea is a riotous, monstrous bringer of vengeance and fury, is it not also the placid, beautiful bringer of life? And just so there is just as much virtue in tending to the town that owes so much to that Sea as there is to riding on the waves with a strong western wind.
In my wanderings I came to find a merchant sailor by the name of Skamanga. When I first clapped an eye on Skamanga I saw was a tall oak of a man, ravished by a life at sea. I offered him a drink in exchange for a tale of the sea, that I might include in me memoir one day. The tale he told did chill me, and perhaps I will share its entirety in a further chapter. Of note however be that Skamanga claims to have seen one of me old shipmates under Captain Bellamy, Mush Mouth. If Mush Mouth survived the wreck as well as I, then perhaps others of Widow Maker have survived. All I know for sure is I'll be keeping an eye out for ol' Mush Mouth.
I've been hearing rumblin's in the streets of Saltmarsh. People whisper low about Lizardfolk and those sea devils the Sahuagin. As the days go by I feel the time is growin' near when I should return to the Sea. But the Sea knows best where I'm best to serve. Until Fate turns my course seaward I'll continue to serve the people of Saltmarsh as a strong back, a wise council, and a healer word.

Pelor's Fear;
The battle with the numerous fish fiends was touch and go for a bit as my companions were in a state of
dis array. We rallied and won the day and luckily for me I got to stay dry. The situation now has become a
bit frightening for me now; not because of the appearance of giant spider homes or the appearance of unholy
undead beasties or the crumbling nature of this vessel... the cold fetid foul black ocean is closing in...

I’m questioning whether we should have taken this job as well as how well this group functions together. Making it worse, we’re all crammed in this tiny room waiting to locate the ghost ship. My hope is we find it soon and end this awful voyage. We’ll see.

Pelors thoughts:
Blessed be the Old Ones, I am on dry land once again. We all just barely survived the "Arc from Hell"! My goodness, there were
more beasties there than I have ever seen in one place. Giant spiders, Ghasts, Humungous octipi, and many I can't name along with
a mongrel Orc spellcaster. My guess is that this was not your ordinary cruise vessel. Sinister magics abounded. On a bright note
(aside from escaping drowning) I accidently discovered a precious treasure, a beautiful magical cloak that shall soon bear my
Pelorian coat of arms..
Oh yeah we also got that guys stupid box back to him.

We survived the derelict ship filled with monsters and giant spiders and are back in Saltmarsh. We were generously compensated for our work, and I should be able to purchase the adamantine plate mail that I need to protect myself, if the merchants can locate it. We all barely escaped this harrowing adventure and don’t know what’s coming next,but I’m sure it’s not going to get any easier.

We made it by the skin of our teeth. I cant believe there was so many spiders on that ship. How did they even get there? I feel I'm warming up to some of the gang now that we've gotten to know each other though we still but heads. I appreciate Daysia stayed with me and Palor to make sure we got out. I still cant get over Lucifer abrasiveness. I think he takes joy in ruining my mood. I really feared for Palor back there. There are few land dwellers who would linger in a sinking ship just to get a box. Turned out to be a very good box to, makes me wonder what else we missed but i doubt we would have had the time to begin with thanks to the elder octopus. Its nice to see Valatassa again, i find his jovial attitude and gonho tackle on life refreshing. I don't know the parrots new name but it ties his look together. Everyday I'm reminded how much i love my satchel. Without it we couldn't have escaped the ship with the box. Now we're 2,000 richer and I can finally invest in an upgrade of the musical pursuit. I heard tales of magical instruments on the dry lands and i would love to get my mitts on some. Im not picky on which one, Ill just be happy to find any at this point.

Pelors thoughts:
This island of sand is fraught with danger. Undead abound. I mean really, skeletons appearing out of sand? This is obviously Necromancy of the foulest sort. As much as I dislike this place it is better than being on the sea. Our group tactics have improved somewhat with fewer mistakes. We must work as a team and strive to kill one foe at a time versus being overwhelmed by hoards of wounded enemies. The way to this "Abbey" is long...

I echo the wise Pelor’s thoughts about the importance of planning and working together in order to defeat our evil foes in a smart manner. I hope we can all do that and be successful.
