When Jose said she wanted a pet Shlizzard I did not think she was serious. I've killed so many and been hurt by them, I could not imagine having one for a companion. But when that little one, if little you could call it, came out of the water I knew we had to let her try and befriend it.
It worked. Somehow, it worked. We finished exploring the rest of the mine, and headed back to town with said Shlizzard in tow. Clapper she called it. Apparently it's going to be trained to do its lightning attack on demand, by clapping. Note to self, dont celebrate in presence of Clappy.
I closed up shop, putting a sign up to let my customers, of which there are few, know that I would be going on a long journey and unsure when I would be back. We gathered the group and departed on a ship, making for Hochock. Gregolas, my dearest cousin, and his friend Laragorn tagged along, but want little to do with our group at the moment. Greg is still mad at me for some reason... perhaps I've overworked him? He puts fruit on sticks for a living, meanwhile I've been enslaved, bitten by lizard creatures, and torn apart by wolves. He has no right to be so moody.
We came to a quaint little town on a river where a festival was taking place. I made my way to the tavern, where a lady told me all about the silly suspicious townsfolk and their belief in vampires. People are leaving and coming back as changelings or something... and she said to look for bite marks on people's necks.. I'm not sure I believe the tales, but nonetheless I am adding garlic to my diet and wardrobe at once.
I bought Clapper a bow. I dont know if the thing is a boy or a girl, but I think our Shlizzard companion is starting to like me. I've felt the damage they can do, so I would like to keep in it's good graces.
We were given a horse and cart to go check out Orlane, a creepy town a few days journey away. People were very odd when we rode in, and I dont know if it was my poor cart handling or just our mere presence that made people flee from our sight. We pulled up to the first inn we saw, and went in to check it out.
I've never been this far from home. When you're somewhere new, it's best to try the local food and drink, and i refuse to leave a single drink untested. The bar tender seemed confused when I ordered one of each, but finally the poor guy gave me what I wanted. He acted like hes never seen a gold coin before.
The wine is good... the white, nothing special. I really like the red... it's good. Light beer... tooooo weak. Dark... 'sgood
Clappy is a cute dog...
This tavernsreally weird. Nobody looks happy. I'm happy, they should be happy. We are the heroessss of Nyrond
Is Hans spinning or am I spinning?
I dont feel so good.

Hans Gunter Heinrich, Adept of Kord, pummeler of bugbears, basher of goblins, wound healer and first of his name was anxious to meet the heals of the temple of Merikka. All this talk of neck holes and changelings has him on edge. The sea voyage and overland travel to Orlane was fun and surprisingly uneventful.
The party seems to be getting along well. Jose tamed a shilizard on the last trip into the mines. That thing is actually pretty awesome. Avelin seemed really excited to leave her homeland. The wizards spent most of the journey swapping spells. Everyone kinda did their own thing. Now we are here in a new place about to potentially take on vampires and their cohorts. Hans hope his faith will protect him from the undead.
Hans did hang out with Gregolas and Laragorn for a bit on the ship. An interestingly flamboyant pair. A ranger and a warrior making edible fruit displays sent to the families of people Avelin kills.

Surrounded by enemies who wish me and everyone under my care and current protection dead. I curse my misfortune. This maybe the end of my story. I will not abandon Aveilin and Clappy. They have more to give to this world then i. I cant fight them either. I cant speak or hear sounds. Then i was struck with an idea. Every part of my body is a tool. from my bones to my blood. These tools that keep me alive i will now use them to continue to safe guard not just my life but hers and Clappy as well. I will make them believe we are important. Blood stains, evidence for our friend to divine our fate and come to our aid.
Determined i climb on top of everyone on the bed, bit hard onto my fingers till they bleed and begin to write...
We are worth more ALIVE
then DEAD.
I then take my pouch and pour out my glittering gold. I shall play by these humans rules, maybe this will service. My glaring eyes never leaving my predators. Money holds no meaning to me. Money is metal for fools to place value on, even more the life. Even at the expense of life. They mean nothing to me but my foes paw at them with such averious glee. The leader then motions me down. I comply, what choice. He motions for me to turn, I hesitate.. but then submit..... They depend on me. Please be safe.
Jose the Beast
Fate Unknown.....

Aevlin is missing. I came to collect my pay from her, and she is gone. Her friends say she drank half the bar, which is not unlike her, but passing out and then leaving mere hours later is not something she would do. The barman claims she left with Jose and the Shlizzard... just up and walked out. We all know hes lying, but cant find any proof. But I know my cousin, and her strange friends, and I know they're in trouble.
The rest of the crew hangs around in the tavern eating and drinking. The townspeople are odd, but the half orc that came in has them beat. She tried going straight upstairs without paying for a room, and when the innkeeper stopped her she pulled a blade on him. The whole place was in an uproar and her being dragged out was probably the best entertainment these boring people had in a long time.
The next morning, everyone not missing still accounted for, we set about the town to ask around. Everywhere we went people claimed they didn't see two girls and a giant lizard... not the most common sight to see, so they would have stood out. These townsfolk are far too eager to share their special wine with us... perhaps that's how Aevlin was taken? I cant accuse people of being kidnappers, but I remain suspicious of everyone.
The crew decides to go to the Temple of Merikka, where they had been when Aev and Jose went missing. They said the priest had a bite mark on his neck, but so do lots of people in this town. Wharruk is going to cause a distraction while the rest of us make a break for it to explore the rest of the temple. Let's hope for the best.
I will not rest until I find my cousin. She owes me pay, but more importantly, she is family and I want her safe. I can only hope that Jose and that weird little Shlizzard can protect her, wherever they are.

Except from the journal of Tol Ki En, Novice of the Enlightened Blade
What sort of group have I found myself amongst? At times their battle tactics seem so uncoordinated. At others, they are efficient, precise, and cooperating to ensure each others' survival. And one of them, has chosen to befriend a lightning emanating lizard creature, and is trying to teach it to do tricks!!! I can see this not working out all that well for everyone in the group. Particularly those who rely on metal armor for their protection. (Addendum: The one with the lizard friend is currently missing, along with the highly skilled archer. We are currently unable to locate them, though I question the logic of finding the former, but am clear of the necessity of finding the latter.)

Hans Gunter Heinrich, Adept of Kord, pummeler of bugbears, basher of goblins, wound healer and first of his name was anxious to meet the leaders of the temple of Merikka. That was until four very specific questions needed answers
1. In the name of Kord, why are there skeletons in a room on the second floor of a temple devoted to Merikka? A diety all about agriculture Merikka is. Hans guessed maybe skeletons represent the death that sometimes plagues a field of grain. 2. Also in the name of Kord, who keeps goblins in a temple dedicated to Merikka? Hans is unsure how goblins and agricultural fit together. Maybe some sort of goblin fertilizer production? One shudders at the thought especially while outnumbered and surrounded by goblins. 3. Why did the interesting half orc try to force her way up to the second floor of the inn earlier that day? Does she know, rather knew, something the rest of us do not? Why did she follow us around? Why did she open a door and push in, get surrounded by skeletons and then die? Shouldn’t armor lead the way? 4. Here we are the last question. The unopened box. The final countdown. Where in the nine hells is the rest of the party? Hans is tired and really concerned he may not make it out of the goblin infested room. What is it with this gang of adventurers and goblins anyway?

"PINEAPPLE!!!!"
Hans and I were surrounded, after barely escaping a battle with skeletons (in a temple?!?!?) and most of our party going down. Goblins. They're nasty, but easy to pick off and distract. I shot a couple down, and retreated to higher ground. It ended up being a torture table, but to my advantage they found my ankles quite distracting.
I couldnt shoot the ones around me without shooting myself in the foot, but I could get some of the ones around Hans. Unfortunately Mr. Heinrich doesnt know how to stay out of the way so I just barely missed him but shot a goblin. He will probably get back at me later, if we get out of here.
At the last minute, seemingly, we were joined by some new folk. Half elves it appeared, and an overly enthusiastic ranger who decided bursting in a window rolling was the best way to enter. We all ran into another room, once more surrounded by goblins. These newbies wanted to fight, so I carried a torch and hung back a bit.
After dispatching said goblins, who were muttering about guarding the temple and clearly under some kind of trance, me and Joe the half elf broke off to explore the torture room. I looked for any long dark hairs or any sign that Aevlin was here. Nothing. Who knows who was tortured there, but clearly Aev and Jose were not.
The party went to another door, and gathering together to face what might be beyond it, it was opened. I backed off immediately when we were told someone was casting a spell. An old man with a mace threw a coin into the room, and it went totally silent. An absolute absence of sound. Hans, the ranger and Wharuck started beating him, while Joe grabbed the coin and ran. She tossed it, and as I got closer to the fight I could hear again. The ranger grappled the caster, and I took rope and at his command tied the casters hands. Not before he slammed me with his mace right in the chest.
"Rack or Iron Maiden?" I asked the ranger. He smirked, glancing to the big contraption, but we decided the rack was easiest. The crazy man was muttering about hay in his pants. We threw him on the table and I strapped him down.
We tried interrogating him, and in between his nonsense he mentions the reptile God and that "Misha" is downstairs, but it's clear the man is insane. Satisfied we will get no more out of him, the ranger and Joe argue over whether we should kill him. I then stab my sword into his chest. To be fair, it was probably putting him out of his misery, and he did have hay in his pants after all.
In the next room the elves found a secret door, and we entered. A massive jade statue of a snake/human thing stood there, and in a cage next to it lay a very dirty waif of a girl. To my relief and yet disappointment, it was not Aevlin. Joe gets her out, and she is grateful for the release and yet fearful. Her name is Cerilly Finla or something... daughter of a local storekeeper. She tells us that she was forced to go with her family to the lair of a "Explicita Defilus", which turned her family into cultists through its state. It didnt work on her, but Obramo liked her hair and skin so took her. He tortured and neglected her for 3 months, keeping her in the cage. I suddenly felt dignified in killing the monster that did this to her.
The girl asked to see his body, and Remy, Joe and I walk out with her to see it. She climbs on top of him and stabs him over and over again. By the time shes done, it's barely recognizable and she smiles through the blood splattering her face.
Grabbing our fallen companions, we move on, exploring the rest of the floor and finding nothing, and decide to make our way down and hopefully out. As we leave, we are intercepted by who we can only assume is Misha, flanked by guards/priests. She says something about us converting. Over my dead body.

Names Joe. I steal for a living. its a job and it pays. Use to have a job in Ekibir, now i don't. I Come from a distinguish line of rogues and danish thieves. It goes wayyyyyyy back to the first great Thief lord. Known as the Macabe Dancer, Slayer of Evils Colors, Jala the Averious.. It became tradition to name every child in that line with a J so her luck can rub off on us and give us her "blessing". Her line is both cursed and blessed. Stupid right? Last i heard the other relatives are all over the place. Disconnected and a mess but still naming their kids with J's despite some forgetting its origins. Some still trying to become the second thief lord but none succeeded.. Thats why I'm stuck with Joe. Short, sweet, simple. Of course its just poety when that family hates your ancestor but did it anyway without knowing.
Currently, there aint anything to steal. This Hick of a towns got squat besides that jewelers but I've been around the block for a while. I anit smart of me to steal from a shop in a town i'm planning to stay at. So here i am out of money but apparently not out of luck. This big hairy guy is stomping around town, says he's trying to get his friends out of a sticky situation, sounds like it will be a liquid opportunity. Maybe pump some excitement into this dull hippy village.
We stormed a temple, walked by a dead half orc. Not feeling confident in my life choices so far. found his boys surrounded by dead green ankle bitters. One ranger had a dramatic entrance through a window. 10 points of style, would have made my ancestor proud. Only three left but there running. I feel sorry for these poor buggars. Let the other fellos do the hard work, not worth the effort. We cornered them and they start sputtering gibberish. Strange, too bad they arnt jabbering anymore. This temple seem rotten the more i stand in it.
Talked with the other archer, Gregalias and a little to the other cleric Hans. They are very chill guys, one the owner of a profitable business, Deadable Ediables TM. very dedicated in finding his missing sister. Apparently this motley group left her drunk in a shifty tavern with only a druid to protect her who is also missing. Wouldnt surprise me if they have been killed but Gregalias has hope and for his sake I hope its true. he and his sis had a fight over the family buissness before going ghost with the druid, I can relate. I also would be supposed if they had skipped town considering how much a jerk these people are minus a select few.
While Greg and a bunch of those blocks were fight this crazed lunatic he threw a shiny gold piece that silenced everyone. Quick on the up take and not wanting to injure anyone i took that gold and ran out of range. It was only when its magic wore off did i hear this skinny wizard go off on me. Hey man, I'm just trying to help. No need to get your knickers in a twist. Its not like you were casting any magic in the first place.
After Greg raked the loony we found a jail with a NICE. Looking statue! The statue is hideous of course but that baby is worth more gold them I've ever held in my hands. Thats like more then twenty hand fulls of gold! One thing for sure, i need a bigger sack for that sweet chunk of change. there was also a lass in here all locked up and looking miserable. Of course i free her. I may have inherited her greed but I'm not a monster. She tells us some news, very bad news. the entire village are all in on it. Brainwashed and s*****. Thats not looking good for the missing party. They maybe are alive but now there is a new scenario. Will they attack us? i don't know how powerful the druid was, no one even bothered to tell me her name. All i know is that she has an exotic pet. Gregs sister though from what I've heard is a force to be reckoned with. Got to feel sorry for the druid if this group is only tying to search for her because Aveilins missing too. If only been with this group for a few hours and i cant stand the pomp and arrogance from some of them. will we even be able to talk her down if theres no one who cares about her in this group.....
Joe, just Joe

Hans Gunter Heinrich, Adept of Kord, pummeler of bugbears, basher of goblins, wound healer and first of his name reflected on the days events.....
With a crash of a breaking window and a flurry of bodies the rest of the party made their way upstairs. We decimated the goblins. Kord will be proud! Upon further investigation we found more rooms and a crazy old man. He threw a coin down and all went silent, which wasn’t a bad thing given the company. The crazy old man put up a really good fight. Gregolas shot Hans in the back...he means well but he is no Aevlin.
They put the old man on the rack, found a young woman that was captured. Within a few minutes she was brutally stabbing the dead old man. I guess he was her captor for a bit.
After the commotion faded the party decided to gather up those unconscious companions and headed down stairs. They meet with the leader of the snake cult! Hans drew his morning star and with a prayer to Kord charged!

Today was rough. Had to baby sit two fellos. S*** hit the fan hard, Gregs become a living statue. i fell alseep on the job, Stabilized Folk, Had to explain to the new guys so they wouldn't attack us, then had Remy on my back about shooting an arrow into a crowd. I couldn't risk hitting Hans or the new guy so i put the evil cleric to the sword instead. I missed but thats just how the dice roll am I right. We got her in the end. one of the new guys started looting him soon after, taking all the good stuff. Im not too pleased by this but theres too much going on for me to keep a straight head. I don't know what is wrong with Remy, He's been very racist towards my half blooded nature and its starting to piss me off. My ancestors have broken limbs over remarks like this but I'm trying, By the gods am i trying! My brother wouldn't put up with this, he would have broken his nose by now but someone has to have a level head. The group is already losing moral out of frustration and indecision. While i was busy talking to the new guy Rick, greg had touched the golden statues. He now cant even pull back a bow string. I was worried about this. I really really wanted to touch them and now my mind has been effectively changed. I can empathize with him. There have been stories of how my ancestor was cursed by a mummy and was forced to carry on into the battle weak and ill. Curses are no joke man. they suck but we carry on. Keep a chin up.
I have no idea where Remmy disappeared too. Someone told me he went down the trapped door in her office without waiting for us, taking the girl with him along with one of the new guys following after. I appreciate the moxy but sometimes you got to take things slow. Everyone now stands at the trap door and there is a noise going on and we are all clues on what is happening. just as quick as it happens it stops and we are all flabbergasted. Stunned one what to do next. A hafling that joined us moments ago, first time seeing one, man arnt they short. He asked for some light down there so i can investigate so i grabbed a torch and tossed it down but then he changes his mind so i go down the latter. I see an Orge, the girl and the new guy past out at its feet while he chews on Remys leg. My blood run cold as i tell the team above. How i wish i could have helped the two down there but i know my weaknesses and my limits. I was blessed with great Instincts and they all tell me the same thing. Hopeless i retreat.
The party is a mess, moral has crumbled. Gregalas has lost his confidence and so has the rest of the group minus me and Rick. No one knows what to do besides that the consensus has concluded that we should rest and gather our wits together after a through investigation of the church. I agree but my one big no is we will not return to that Hick town to be killed at a tavern. The food sucks and so so the villagers. As much as i would love to chase after the Orge for the death of Remmy and everyone the parties moral is just as important as everyones health. A group that cant work together will die. It's simple as that.
We rest, have a good breakfest but then the new shady hafling makes us return to the statues. He said he had a dream about golden beans and should try to steal the cursed golden artifacts again.. Greg is still not well, no one wants to take the chance of falling to the same fate. We are all now bickering in front of these statues and its starting to piss me off now on how much fighting is going on instead of loot gathering. I cant standing in fighting! It stress me out! Theres only one way to kill this stalemate. I pray to Mask, the god of risk and reward, and my dear great great great great great great great grandmother and take it. I feel the curse try to steal my strength but it fizzles out like the last dreg of a cigar. I worked! Thank you Grandma! I now pocket a nice 5,000 gold. of course I'll split it with everyone. A happy group is worth the price to pay. I wont be grabbing anymore currently. I know whens the price is not worth admission. This seems to embolden the tiny thief for he now again and again steals the gold vetables and we all watch in shock as he grows sicker. It's really hard to look at. No one stops him. I definitely wont. It was his choice. To my amazement he then tries to leave so i pick him up. The buggar tries to STAB me! ME! (Thanks again Grandma) That no good B*******. I have half the mind to snap his scrawny neck and take back what he stole but everyone is watching and i can not risk the groups moral by killing this vermin so i toss him far out of the church with his cursed gold. Good riddance. Next we meet will not be in good favors. Never rob another Theif of his gold.
We follow through with a plan. I follow the trail of liquid and i tasted it to discover what it is. Disgusting i know but effective. It's blood. From Remmy most likely, questionable if the lass and the other guy are still alive. I tell the other half elf we are goin right, away from the trail of blood. Doesn't do much good for the light attracts the Orge. I'm proud to boast that everyone destroyed that stupid behemoth! Now onwards into the lions den!
-Joe

I want to get out of this temple. I've tried to convince the party to go elsewhere, anywhere but this creepy place, but nobody wants to go back into town.
We went straight into a fight with Misha and her guard. I shot a wolf and then found myself completely unable to move. I tried to will myself to move, I had to get back in the fight, but I was paralyzed. To add insult to injury, I was in the process of reloading and thus was stuck with my arm out awkwardly for a bit. Finally the fight ended and we were joined by newcomers who had walked into the fight and were pretending to fight for Misha.
In a moment of stupidity after the fight, I grabbed a golden statue of a carrot. I thought it would be funny to have, and I was going to give it to Laragorn. Instantly I felt like all my strength left my body. I nearly fell over, and placed the carrot back in hopes that it was just due to holding it. No such luck. Joe checked in on me, said I looked pale and awful. I reminded him that I always look fabulous, but i definitely did feel like crap. I begged the group to find a place to rest so I could recover, but even with a few party members down they didnt seem to care.
Things really went south when Remy brought the girl down into a trapdoor, and they were subsequently killed and eaten by an ogre. Joe wanted us to go down into the basement, but I was adamant that we cannot fight an ogre in our state. We explored the rest of the temple, finding food and a sitting room. Exhausted and weak, I collapsed in an armchair and passed out.
The next day, I felt no better. The statue had clearly cursed me. Hans and Joe explored the outbuildings, finding evidence that a party had gone somewhere on horses recently, and there was a good chance they would be coming back. I tried to convince everyone once more to get the hell out of here, but they wanted to stay.
Joe picked up another golden statue, this one a bunch of beans. I didnt want to see my new friend get messed up like I am, but miraculously he wasnt cursed. Then the new halfling tried. He was cursed over and over, becoming noticeably affected. And then, stuffing his pants with three gold statues, he made for the exit. Joe tried holding him back, provoking his attack. He stabbed him, and Joe let him go. He left, limping slowly out through the barricaded door.
Joe really wanted to go back down into the basement and hunt down the ogre. I still felt awful, and just wanted to sit down, but he reminded me that theres safety in numbers. Dragging myself out of the armchair, I followed him and Hans down into the trapdoor, followed by our other party members. I lifted my bow, my arms shaking with the effort, and hung back with Hans. Joe could see in the dark, so he scouted ahead. We got further into the tunnels, soon realizing it was some kind of maze. There were stains on the ground, which Joe confirmed to be blood. The ogre must have dragged the three bodies away.
It was when Joe was scouting ahead that the ogre made itself known. I shot at it, or at least tried. What had once been effortless now was painful. I could barely pull back the bowstring, and my arrows both missed. Hans rushed in, swinging at it, and then getting pummeled. It wasnt looking good, but then Nylen the elf came running in from the other end of the passage and shot it down.
My skills may be diminished, but Rick the Cleric helped me to feel a little better by healing my wounds from the fight upstairs. Joe promised me that with the money made off the gold statue that we could pay a high powered cleric to hopefully get me back to normal, so I am holding on to that. We took down an ogre by banding together, and as long as we stay together we can probably survive anything. I cant give up now, we still havent found Aevlin and Jose, and I will not let my weakened state stop me from saving them. I dont know if they're here or if it's even worth looking, but together we are a force to be reckoned with, and anything that's down here should probably be very, very afraid.
I need coffee and a nap.

Except from the journal of Tol Ki En, Novice of the Enlightened Blade
I barely have the strength to write this entry. I was nearly slain by skeleton within Merikka’s temple in the village of Orlane. I was attempted to retrieve the fallen body of a rather obnoxious half-orc that had temporarily joined our group in its investigation of said temple. The foolish had rushed into a dark room and found itself surrounded by animated skeletons and quickly cut down.
I grabbed a torch and tossed it into the room to illuminate it and rushed in to try and pull the fallen half-orc to safety. Unfortunately I was not able to act quickly enough and was rendered unconscious by a skeleton attack.
I have sense received the necessary attention to regain consciousness. I am currently unable to do more that stumble about, along with Hogan, with the aid of our comrades. We are both too weak from our injuries to help in the further freeing of the temple from the evil which holds sway over it. Fortunately, the timely arrival of an elf and a cleric proved sufficient to eliminate the last of the temple guardians who were under the sway of this evil cult.
